A first-round pick for the Calgary Flames, Carson Carels skipped the draft stage for a family farm in Manitoba before bringing his cowboy roots and quiet confidence straight into development camp in Calgary.

Going back to the draft here, I wanna wrap up today talking about the Calgary Flames because they have 11 picks in this year's draft, including six in the first two rounds alone.
So Mike, do you see the Flames trying to use some of those picks to maybe move up in the draft or to trade for NHL-ready players, or do you actually expect Calgary to pick 11 players in the draft?
I don't expect them to pick 11, but, I don't know how they move up from six where they are right now, unless, you know, they think they can make a deal with San Jose to move up to number two if they feel that they could get, Stenberg, second overall.
I mean, that would make a lot of sense.
They could package.
But, but San Jose doesn't want four or five picks.
They, you know, they're in the same position as, as Calgary.
I think they wanna add, you know, f- San Jose actually is ahead of them.
They have Celebrini and a lot of pro- a lot of young players, and they wanna add veterans.
And I think right now sh- right now Calgary is in a position where they'd like to add players who could stay in Calgary for a long time.
so they might be willing to trade a pick or two, but I think they stay at six, and they probably take a Bierhoff, or someone like that, to add to their defense with Zane Parekh.
And, you know, that, that could make a good solid, c- core of a defensive team that in a few years could be a, a playoff team.
