Canucks Next GM Must Make Franchise Defining Decisions Regarding Pettersson, Boeser, Demko
The Vancouver Canucks had another terrible year, and it cost GM Patrik Allvin his job. The Canucks' next GM needs to take advantage of their clean slate and tear down Vancouver's roster in order to go through a much-needed full rebuild.

I was gonna get it-- I was gonna go with the old Simpsons joke when Krusty the Clown announced his retirement, where it's like, "Why now?
Why not six months ago?"
yeah, this was never a good f-fit.
Like, it just feels like Vancouver's management in general, has been a, a bit of a disaster.
you know, I mean, Jim Rutherford obviously is a, a veteran and, has, has done a lot of good in his career.
But it just feels like that front office needs a, an overhaul.
And, it'll be interesting to see, who they bring in, whether it's somebody, you know, promoted internally, or if they go externally and find somebody maybe with a, a little more steady hand.
Yeah.
It, it seems like, you know, choosing Pettersson, you know, or, or giving that contract to Pettersson wasn't a great deal.
I'll, I'll say this about Alvine.
you know, the make of a or the mark of a good GM is not with the moves they make, it's how they kind of correct their mistakes, and I think that, you know, the trade of Quinn Hughes to Minnesota, I thought that was actually a really good trade for Vancouver.
they really worked all the people that were all, all the potential suitors to a T. they got as much value as they could, and I think that's gonna set them up.
But, you know, we-we'll see who the next GM is, and whether he or she, what kind of vision they have for the Canucks.
'Cause this is gonna be an important summer.
Yeah.
We'll see if Vancouver can get the number one overall pick.
But beyond that, I think the big question is what do they do with Petey?
is Pettersson part of their future?
Or, or can they find a team that's interested in taking on that massive contract and thinking that a change of scenery can help this guy?
