Will Chiefs TE Tre Watson breakout in 2026?

Kyle Crabbs discusses why TE Tre Watson's recent comments are reason to be excited.

Video Transcript

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tray Watson had a recent appearance on Good Morning Football, and my colleague at A to Z Sports thinks that Watson is a candidate p- to potentially surprise some people in twenty twenty-six.

I don't know if it's gonna be Watson or not, but somebody in this tight end room does need to step up for the Chiefs in twenty twenty-six.

Watson kind of struck me when he came out of the NFL Draft as a Jody Fortson-type target.

Maybe not as long, but kind of that same athletic skill set and, and what he brings to the table.

But when you look at the Chiefs' other tight ends, Noah Gray saw his targets fall in half from twenty twenty-four to twenty twenty-five.

And the other big tight end that they've invested in in recent years, Jared Wiley, is hardly getting onto the field at all, despite the fact that I think he was an exceptionally talented player coming out of TCU.

Given the reported intent of the Chiefs offense this season to run the ball more and #PoundTheRock with Kenneth Walker in the backfield to help spice things up on this Chiefs offense, somebody in the tight end room needs to become the second guy, especially as Travis Kelce gets ready for his swan song in the NFL.
