Big jump.

Dak Prescott joins Jerry Jones in Dallas Cowboys change promise.

That's a beard scratcher.

It's a fine headline.

It's not, clickbait-y, it's not outrageous, it's not too juicy.

It doesn't lack invitation.

Just needs to be true.

Mike Fisher, reporting from the Fish Bowl in Frisco, Texas.

When Jerry Jones talks, people listen.

Oh, they might roll their eyes, and they might not listen the whole two hours, but when Jerry Jones talks, people listen.

People including Dak Prescott.

NFL Combine last week on the party bus, Cowboys owner Jones predicted his team would be, quote, "aggressive" in free agency and beyond.

Slapped down the team's trend of drafting injured prospects as bargains, and insisted his team has got to go this year.

Good morning, Herd family.

Checking in to the Uncle Fish Premium Club.

This year.

Gotta go this year.

Dak's reaction?

Heck yeah, most definitely, when asked if he's excited by what Jerry had to say.

Quote from Dak, "This is the year that you make a big jump, and getting big time players who can help immediately is part of that."

Man, there's a lot of meat in that, isn't there?

This is the year.

Help immediately.

That's the red shirt thing.

Big time players.

That means we're not talking about scrap heap free agency.

Now, how high are we talking?

we're gonna write about this today at cowboysroundtable.com.

Max Crosby of the Raiders is being very cowboy cryptic on social media.

He's putting up cowboy songs, and he's put- and he's talking about how he's already m- it's being suggested that he's already met his next coach.

so that's a story way up here.

Brandon Aubrey, story way up here.

Chuga, "Aubrey's gonna leave."

He is?

He can't.

He can't leave if you don't want him to leave.

Max Crosby coming here.

It could be done, if you want him to come here.

George Pickens staying here.

That's true too, if that's what you want.

Dak was at the, Children's Cancer Fund event in Dallas, and he seemed especially pleased with the no red shirts remark.

If you're a longtime Cowboy person, you know what that means.

Cowboys, have for a long time liked the idea of he's a first-round talent, but we can get him in the second round because he's got an injury issue that we don't think is too serious.

We- we're smarter than everybody else.

We- so Sean Lee, first-round talent.

Got him in second round.

Jalen Smith, he was a top five player before that horrific knee injury at Notre Dame, in his last game at Notre Dame.

Cowboys- Cowboys thought they knew something.

and Shannon Rebel, first-round talent.

We got him in the third.

But- but they were red shirts.

You had to wait on them, or you had to anticipate injury issues.

That's out.

Jerry says it's out, and Dak nods his head to it.

Good.

We don't have time for that anymore.

So prospects who might slip down a bit, who- who talent, they're up here, but they got the injury, so they're down here.

See, for instance, we- we've already talked about this with McCoy, the Tennessee cornerback.

I- I think that's, I think that knocks him down.

Next conversation's about Caleb Downs, the Ohio State safety.

He's got a red flag medical issue.

I know there's a lot of people that think they already have the answer to this.

You're wrong.

You do not have the answer to what the Cowboys are gonna do on Caleb Downs yet, 'cause they don't have the answer to it.

Stay tuned.

We're writing about that today at cowboysroundtable.com.

Aaron K., "You gonna do a red shirt?

Let's do it in the seventh round."

Sure.

W- when we're down there throwing wild darts, but not in the first round.

Not in the second round, and the Cowboys don't presently have a second-round pick, although that could change of course.

So Jerry's dismissal of the idea of the red shirt suggests, I think we can all agree on this, this one, forget about the money, this one we can all agree, that is about a sense of urgency.David, can you give up pick number 20, a future high pick, and Osa to get Max?

You sure you can.

Now, the Raiders can keep insisting we want two first-round picks.

I don't think that's happening.

Those P, can we get Crosby and Hendrickson?

No, that's not realistic.

The sport, you got good names.

I've got this plan.

We might, might do this tonight.

I think the Cowboys are gonna be like Noah's Ark when it comes to acquiring starters, free agency trade.

I think it's gonna be they're coming by twos, so I'm gonna put together some cents, and financially maybe some sets.

Maybe it'll be they're coming Maybe it's Noah's Ark except one and a half financially, so I'm working on that.

Joey, how can you write something when you don't have a clue on what the organization will do?

You Surely, you're not talking about me.

I don't write things about what the Cowboys are gonna do factually unless I have facts.

You know that.

So we're dismissing the idea of the red shirt.

Now there's the money.

That's the other part.

The red shirt policy is easy.

The financial policy is wait and see.

Wyatt, $2 pitch in.

I'm scared that all Jerry is doing is rebranding all in.

You should be.

He brought that on himself.

That was baloney, and he knew it.

So bust the budget.

Y- you have every reason to say, I, I believe you on the red shirt.

I don't believe you on bust the budget.

And as I've mentioned, because Jerry can be really tricky with his word salad, his Little Rock, Arkansas, door-to-door Bible salesman, country-fried jibber-jabber, bust the budget might be, well, we did bust the budget because my budget was this big, and we s- decided to go this big while everybody else is going this big.

That would be bust the budget.

Joey, we don't know what they're doing.

Some of us do, Joey.

Are you kidding me?

I don't think this needs repeating.

I can't believe it needs repeating you, Joey, but I'll do it.

There are opinions, and there are fact-based opinions, and there are rumors, and I am extremely precise about identifying which is which is which.

If it's a rumor, I tell you it's a rumor.

If it's a fact, I tell you it's a fact, and I spend most of my time on here with fact-based opinions, and you know that.

Joey, don't make it too hard.

You're gonna give yourself an aneurysm.

I told you what the Cowboys were gonna do with Dak, Lamb, and Tyler Smith, didn't I?

I told you like three months ago what they were gonna do.

To the penny, I told you.

Jerry's quote, "Because we gotta create cap space now."

Oh, I also told you cap health, ignore it, and everybody else was telling you the Cowboys are $79 million.

I told you, no, they're not.

Not when it matters, they're not.

Yeah, we gotta make sure we separate our Joeys from our Joeys.

I l- I love all my Joeys though.

But sometimes one of my No, actually, sometimes all my Joeys need a spanking.

Quote from Jerry, "The only way to push more is for me to go borrow some of my future."

Really, Jerry?

Because we've talked about for years here cash, checkbook, credit card, and the way to buy a new refrigerator now when you don't have the cash is to put it on your credit card, and then you enter it into the checkbook, and then eventually you have to pay it.

Of course, the cap keeps going up, so maybe the piper never quite gets paid.

"Expect me to go borrow from my future," Jerry said.

"Defense will be the way, the area that you'd see me bust the budget."

Cowboys can officially begin signing guys, outside free agents, March 11th.

That's the start of the new league business year.

They can agree to terms, legal tampering period, on March 9th, and they can do stuff with guys, their guys now.

George Pickens, 27.3 million franchise tag, or try to forge a long-term deal.

Dak did speak on that.

George loves football, which by the way, is a great Cowboys weapon.

Have we talked about that yet?

George loves football is, is like a Cowboy secret three-word code for what they're doing here.

"George loves football," says Dak, and he basically gave him advice in a public forum.

Take your He said 30.

Take your $27.3 million if that's what it is.

Bet on yourself.

Let's go.

That's what I did when I was franchised.

Remember, Dak was franchise tagged twice.

At the end of the day, bet on yourself.

Dak says regarding Pickens, "Hopefully, we can get him long-term and sign that.

But if not, the way he plays the game, the person he is, he'll be just fine."

And you know what?

If the Cowboys really do fulfill these promises, promises that Jerry makes and that Dak seems to believe, promises of aggression and bust the budget and big leaps, if those things are true, Dallas Cowboys might have a chance in 2026 to be even better than just fine.
