With the Chicago Cubs as they surge toward the postseason.
No, this is not the Pete Crow-Armstrong segment, although we could do 10 minutes on PCA.
He's been great.
Alex Bregman, what do you make of his season, Tom?
It seems like to me, in a league where batting average is down, 258 is like the new 288.
He has 19 home runs.
True.
67 runs driven in.
His OPS, you know, not where I'm sure he wanted it to be.
I'm sure that you would've probably thought Bregman was an 800 OPS guy.
But there's still a month to go in the season.
And from by all, all accounts in Boston and previously in Houston, and I came to know Alex Bregman pretty well while he was in Houston, he provides a lot more than just the stats to his team, and that's part of, I think, what he's probably done for the Cubs.
There's no question the Cubs at this point, I, I think will probably avoid a collapse like we saw a few years ago.
They seem good enough to do that.
Now, I, I don't know how far they're gonna go, Tom.
I don't wanna anoint them winning a first round series.
I'm not gonna do that.
But Bregman has brought a lot- to their table this year.
He certainly has, you know, admittedly, I was not very high on Bregman coming into the year, just hi- his age declining, his power.
He also played in two parks between Houston and Boston that were really good for him with a very high air pull rate.
Those were like two parks that are tailor-made for that type of swing.
I was like, "Oh, it's Wrigley.
It's a l- you know, it's a little bit different.
I'm just not high on him in terms of, you know, potential fantasy production."
But because the lineup overall, I thought, "Okay, with PCA and Suzuki and Muller, I'm like, okay, he'll be fine overall."
But to your point, what he brings to the lineup is more than just the counting stats.
And this time of year with him surging and PCA surging, I think they're gonna carry the lineup.
And if, to your point with the, the postseason matchup, if they get a good postseason matchup, they could sweep it.
If they get a bad one, they may not win a game.
