It's a lightweight showdown in Paris.
Dan Tom here with MMA Junkie.
I'll be breaking down the main event for UFC Fight Night 287 between Dan Hooker and Saladin Parnasse.
Parnasse, who is the UFC newcomer, is an excellent French fighter that myself and many have been talking up for years now.
In fact, I had him on MMA Junkie's annual Prospects to Watch column, which ages quite well.
And sure enough, Parnasse finds himself in the UFC in a lightweight fight opposite UFC lightweight staple Dan Hooker, who also has experience through many weight classes as well.
At the time of this video, the oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the UFC newcomer Parnasse in the neighborhood of minus 700, with a comeback on your proven underdog Dan Hooker in the neighborhood of plus 440.
Now, seeing a line this wide, as we've been reminded many times, especially recently in MMA, you know, numbers can only be skin deep.
However, I don't disagree necessarily with who is favored.
Again, Parnasse is a guy I've been very high on.
He's a southpaw who has really improved his boxing even more, dynamic kicks, good range, a natural fighter, started off as a stymie counter-grappler, but can really impose his game through all phases of the fight now.
And well, he's going to have to be sharp in every phase of the fight against a guy who is also dangerous in all phases, like Dan Hooker.
Dan Hooker is four and four against UFC-level lefties, so a 500 record there.
