The Dodgers just announced a surprise bobblehead giveaway, and it features none other than Quique Hernandez in his signature pitching helmet that he debuted last season.
So this giveaway will be going down on Sunday, July 12th, versus the Arizona Diamondbacks, and it does make me a little sad because this announcement was almost lined up perfectly with Quique's return.
He was going crazy in his first two games of the season, but he unfortunately hurt his oblique and he's right back on the IL.
But I remember last year when Quique first took the mound in this pitching helmet, a lot of Dodgers fans were asking for this to be made into a bobblehead, and this team actually made it happen.
The hilarious part is that this helmet was actually meant for Bobby Miller after he got hit in the head by a comebacker in spring training.
But Quique liked the helmet so much that he kept it for himself.
He tricked the doctor that brought the helmet and was able to hold onto it, and when Dave Roberts sent him in to pitch for the first time last season, he knew it was time to bust it out.
The Baseball Hall of Fame even reached out to Quique to see if they could have the pitching helmet after the Dodgers won the 2025 World Series, but Quique respectfully declined.
