Does Alabama have its starting 5 offensive linemen?

Video Transcript

Hey coach, good.

Good morning.

OK, I, I think I lost my intro guy.

You guys know me, so let's, let's get it rolling.

Who's up?

Hey Ryan, um, just wondering what kind of the approach is for Jan Russell this week, and what's the plan to get him ready for his first start.

Well, you know, we got 33 days of practice coming up and, and, uh, a Friday practice as well, so we got 4 more cracks added to make sure Kean's got all the stuff that makes him feel good.

And I think for him, you know, just making him feel good about the process.

So, you know, for us this week, we're focusing on.

Trying less communication in the huddle, making him talk more through the, you know, the headset and things like that just so he gets more comfortable with the game day procedures because that, that's a big thing.

Some of it's just the semantics of being out there in a football game and him having to deal with things on his own, you know, so we're trying to pull back the communication right there by the huddle and keep the coaches back off to the side because it's really, you know, it's not just.

You know, we have a lot of young players, period.

So really trying to force those guys to grow, um, is a big part of it right now.

Start here on the right here, Nick, and then we'll go to Charlie.

Yeah, have you cemented that starting five goal line and overall, what do you want to see from that group in game one?

Yeah, yeah, we're, we're pretty much there, I think, and I say pretty much because I think there's guys that, you know, physically we're still working through some things, um, as far as guys trying to help with reps, but when you look at, you know, Jackson and Will and Rayson and Michael, those guys have, have pretty much cemented it and then, you know, the right tackle spot, uh, Jan's been taking, uh, the lion's share of the ones rep.

Uh, you know, he's still physically getting himself in game shape a little bit.

Um, he had a summer where he's working through a lot of stuff, so I could see, you know, potentially another guy there.

And then as far as from that group, you know, just physicality and consistency.

I think that that's the big thing for those guys, being able to, you know, show some dominance up front and then just be consistent.

I think you're trying to chase the one-hit wonders with guys in the offensive line world and that, that would be a problem.

So as long as they can show snap one to snap.

85 or whatever the heck it is that they can play the same way.

I think that's gonna be a big challenge for them.
