And man, what a swirl of rumors this week already.
We're gonna shoot out the gate firing the big guns as the- Rumor mill.
Rumor mill.
The rumor, the one thing that's not rumor is that the Miami Dolphins have released Tyreek Hill.
That's true.
Yep, no rumors there.
He's gone.
Proofed it.
They're cleaning, they're cleaning house in Miami right now.
It's, uh- Gotta do it ...
It's kinda sad, really.
I mean, they spent all that time building that, spending all that money just to basically throw it, throw it away in the, in the be- in the off-season of the 2026 season.
You know what I'm saying?
No, when it doesn't work, you gotta make changes, and they're making changes.
They're making changes all right.
Bye-bye, head coach.
Bye-bye, number one wide receiver.
Bye-bye, whoever else.
They, I, I, I'm thinking it was a defensive lineman, one of their top- one of their top pass rushers that they let go, too.
But I mean, they're just clearing out cap space is all they're doing.
I mean, it's like, okay, yeah, Tyreek, we're sitting on, we're sitting on all this money.
I, I forget what, I've got it here somewhere, what they- what they're saving by letting him go.
Because, you know, they didn't pick up the remainder of his contract, and they were able to get out of it, they're saving themselves, I don't know, sh- millions of dollars.
Yeah.
I don't remember what the I don't remember what the actual number was.
but it- Probably a lot of money.
It's a lot of money.
obviously, you know, once I mean, it didn't take more than seconds after, Miami, released that information and released Tyreek, that the speculations that, he'd land back in Kansas City.
there's a lot of Man, there's a lot of, a lot of twists and turns with that.
you know, he was set to make, I think it was 30 million or something, something like that, maybe 20 million.
22 point- 22.8?
You know, that's what he was set to make.
Kansas City's not gonna come up with $22.8 million, period.
I mean, we just don't have it.
Even restructuring is gonna save us a lot of money, but do you spend all that back to get one player back who, potentially might not come back to the- as the same player as what he, you know, what he left?
He had a monster career in Miami, with over 1,500 yards in the first three years, 106 catches, numerous, touchdowns.
I mean, it's, it's, it's crazy, the, the productivity of him, even though Miami really didn't do a whole lot.
I know one playoff appearance while he's there in the last three years.
Does that sound about right?
Yeah, probably.
And, and the Freezer Bowl, where they went to Arrowhead in the sub-temperatures, and Miami just ki- basically collapsed under the, under the, frigid temperatures.
Couldn't do nothing.
and then of course, his big knee dislo- dislocation and- When he tore his L- ACL, yeah.
I mean, he's still rehabbing for that, so is it possible he's even gonna be ready for the beginning of the season?
probably not.
Well, he's what, 31, 32, somewhere in there?
Yeah.
He might be fast, but with an ACL tear, he's not gonna come back the same player.
Right.
And I mean, well, he te- he tore it a while back, right?
He, I mean, he's still recouping, but- I mean, it was September, I believe, wasn't it?
Yeah.
And, it was early- Could be ... or mid-September when he went down- I could- ... like, four games into the season.
I could see him coming for two seasons and for a lower price tag and playing and retiring.
I mean, it's kinda i- he's kinda at that point in his career where if he legitimately talks to his doctors, and his doctors say, "You know, you really shouldn't play," he could retire right now and still be a happy man.
Right.
He, he's made his money.
He went to Miami for the money.
It wasn't for the loyalty or anything like that.
He wanted the money.
Kansas City wasn't offering him that, not even close to bringing him back to stay in KC.
And he took the money, went to Miami, and then he bad-mouthed everybody in Kansas City.
Yeah.
And it's like, "Bro, what the hell?"
Yeah.
"Keep it up.
Stop it!"
He doesn't care.
He was making the money he wanted, and that's all that mattered, so That's what he was looking at.
So question to you, Chico.
Mm-hmm.
Let's say he c- let's say he comes back on a one-year contract.
he says, "$3 million is fine.
Let's do 3 million," one-year contract, come back.
Do you take him?
Yeah.
Yeah, you take him.
Yeah?
Even if he's Even if you don't know that he's gonna be able to do what he used to do?
I think that's worth the gamble- Okay ... especially if he was coming back that low.
I mean, that's lower.
That's, that's pretty low.
That's really, really low.
That's low for a veteran.
Yeah.
Pretty- No, it is.
I'm, I'm, I'm spouting very low numbers, but, I mean, I can't imagine them I can't imagine them trying to offer him 10, $12 million to come back for a season.... right?
Yeah.
And he, like, like you just said, he's getting up there in age.
He's not gonna- he's, he's got maybe one, two more years left in him gas-wise.
I mean, n- you know, I shouldn't say that, but because if he still feels good, I mean, he could play for another five, six years for all I know, but- Yeah ...
I, I just don't know.
But for me, he- one or two seasons is pretty much all I see him going before he does retire.
Now, the downside would be if Mahomes doesn't come back because of his ACL, Tyreek comes to the Chiefs, he doesn't have his quarterback there to throw him the ball, then he's gotta work with a second-string quarterback.
He's probably not gonna get as many touches as he would want, and we probably wouldn't be the team that w- he would wanna come play for.
Not saying that Mahomes is everything, but, I mean, we've seen it.
You put your second-string quarterback in, the whole thing falls apart.
Right.
Mahomes is a key factor in any decision for any player coming into g- that might potentially- Yeah ... wanna come to Kansas City, besides money.
Everybody, you know, everybody has a deep respect for Mahomes.
They know what he can do.
so that being said, if, if, if Pat's not gonna be back, then yeah, you're right.
What do you do?
You're gonna play four games?
But th- once again, who's to say Tyreek's gonna make, you know, gonna pass the physicals and stuff like that, too?
So, you know, will he be eligible to come back the first game of the season?
Will he be able to go to training camp and work out a little bit?
I mean, these are still all- this is all up in the air.
This is so This is almost as bad as the Travis Kelce thing right now.
It's like, so much speculation, and so much rumor, and so much hearsay, and up down, and this, that.
It's like, good God!
Yeah.
Let's just wait and see what happens.
Let the big dogs work it out, but I mean, it's article after article.
I mean, I saw, I saw Travis talking about Eric Bieniemy, and how excited he was for him to come back.
So I mean- Yeah ... that's your given right there.
He's ready to have Bieniemy as a coach again, so- Yeah ... he's not going away.
He's coming back next season to play.
Listen, my I read this, and I, you know, for me, it was more like clickbait.
You know, I saw it, and I'm like, "Oh, that's clickbait.
That's, you know, that's, that's fake news right there," but, it was one of those articles that popped.
It was like, "Travis signs for way less money to give one more round to Kansas City."
And I'm like, "Well, is that true?"
And I looked at it, and was like, "I don't know that I believe in that, that page, that, that that's true."
And of course, nothing else popped up about that- Mm-hmm ... at all.
So, you know, you kinda take it for that, but I think Travis is coming back for one more.
Yeah.
And I know I, I know I get picked on about I don't wanna talk about it, you know, just let him make his decision, but, I mean, it's just a, it's a con- it's a constant reminder every day if you're a Chiefs fan that this is something that's on the line.
This is what needs to be decided before we can make any more decisions after that.
If Travis comes back, he's set to make 17 million.
Obviously, I believe, I believe deep down in my heart, if Travis wants to come back to Kansas City, he is going to make a deal that basically he's gonna get paid, let's just say 10.
Fair less.
Opens up 11.
Yeah, I'm just saying, I'm giving that as, a kind of an average- Mm-hmm ... which opens up 7 million, which y- and I'll tell you right now, you're not gonna go get Breece Hall for $7 million.
He's slated, I read, about 43 million in a three-year contract for the n- whatever team he's gonna be playing for.
'Cause that's what he's worth, and, I think he's with the Jets right now.
Mm-hmm.
you know, we had a shot to get him somewhere in the mid-season.
We passed on it.
I don't see us I don't see the Chiefs I shouldn't say us.
I know fucking nothing in this game, so um- ... besides my opinion.
I don't see them dishing out a three-year, $43 million contract for him as a running back, and I'll explain why here in a minute.
But, so do you spend the money and go get Tyreek, and give him a little bonus, bring back a couple of these, like Juju?
you know, the Dre Tranquill thing still on the, on the, on the hook.
Are they going to I, I thought I'd seen a thing on where they did go ahead and work a contract out with the Leo Chanel, but once again, I had not seen any more on that.
It was one of those, one of those quick- Mm-hmm ... did they really work a deal out?
But I have not seen anything else come up about it.
That would be big news.
you know, and the speculation is, is that you can't pay Dre Tranquill and Leo Chanel while you still have Nick Boza on, or not- Nick Bolton, sorry.
That's a lot of Bs!
While you still have him on a major contract, 'cause they upped him.
Yeah.
yeah, the, it's, it's, it's, it's a very interesting budget that they gotta work on, and, you know, they still have to I mean, there's still no articles or any news on whether they've reworked Patrick's contract or Chris Jones's contract, but I'm gonna tell you right now, if Chris Jones is posting on his Twitter that says, "It's cheetah, it's time"- Mm-hmm.
I saw that ... then I think Chris Jones needs to be restructuring his contract to bring him back if they, if he really wants him to come back.
Well, and if, if, if all these guys were to restructure and take a little bit less money, Jawaan Taylor goes, there's 20 million there.
Right.
and then you get some of those other guys that can go, you open up a little bit more cap space.
You'd be able to pay Tyreek 10, Maho- or Kelce 10.
Hunt's still there.
I don't know what he's making, but- Well, he's on free agency right now, too.
Yeah.
I mean, he, he, he's dangling, he's dangling on the hook also.
Do, do you bring him back?
I mean, I don't know that Hunt- is making a ton of money.
I think he is.
I, I think what are we talking?
Like, one- 1.2, 1.3 mil or something like that a season.
I mean, you could Once again, w- I've talked about the, with this Juju.
I mean, Juju's making under two.
Bump him up to two mil, bring him back.
He is worth bringing back to the Chiefs, period.
Because even if he doesn't, doesn't- e- even if he doesn't draw more than one or two players, he's gonna get away from that one, and he's gonna make plays.
You just gotta look for him.
He's an open receiver about 80% of the time- Mm-hmm ... or 92% of the time, depending on how you wanna look at it.
92% of the time, it works 100 ti- 100%.
So you get all these guys, you build your dream team, Mahomes is back healthy.
Mm-hmm.
You make a run for the Super Bowl, and if you don't make it there, then Ah, listen, in my straight-up opinion, my straight-up opinion, last season, we were really looking at the wide receiver room.
Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Juju, Hollywood Brown, all of these potentially amazing wide receivers, and I was like: "Okay, we're gonna be able to air it out," because we all know Andy Reid is a throw first coach.
Mm-hmm.
So looking at this, I was like: "All right, yeah, I'm, I'm feeling good about this," until we got into the second game of the season, and we got drops, and we got br- we've got busted routes.
We've got, you know, Patrick Mahomes, you know, r- leading the Kansas City Chiefs in rushing yards.
Running for his life?
Running for his life.
And I thought, "Wow, why didn't, why didn't this work?"
We have potentially just two amazing receivers in Rice and Worthy, and Hollywood Brown was supposed to be all that.
I mean, when we, when we got him in free agency, it was like, "Oh, my goodness," and then, boom, he's out hurt.
We lose him for a long period of time, and then when he comes back, it's like, ugh, it's just, it's just blah.
I mean, he made some great catches- ... don't get me wrong.
I mean, he had his moments, but 80% of the time, it was like, bleh.
So why?
Well, come to find out this season, pretty good reason why.
You've got a wide receivers coach who, had one year of high school wide receiving coaching under his belt.
No wonder our wide receivers didn't work out.
The coach had one season as a wide receivers coach in high school!
No NFL experience- That's a good dream ... no college experience.
Why was this guy hired?
I don't know.
I don't, either.
But that's changed.
We got Chad O'Shea now, 20-plus years wide receiving coaching, so maybe that one- maybe that wide receiver room turns around with some better leadership- With the new- From the coach ... with the new OC?
Mm-hmm, but do you take- And- ... that chance?
Yeah- Juju's- I think- ... Ju- Juju's on, Juju's up for, free agency.
Hollywood Brown's up for free agency.
You might get Rice back.
You might not get Rice back.
Every alleged thing that, that poor guy does- Mm-hmm ... is in social media hell.
Worthy just had surgery.
I hear he's, he's doing well.
I mean, everything's repaired and doing well, so we might get a little bit of Worthy back because he sure didn't look good last season, and he fought through a lot of pain.
I get that.
I, I'm with you.
I understand that completely, but let's hope that Chad O'Shea can turn that room around, and then you get EB back, and EB is a running- he's a running back, former running back.
He's coming back.
He's gonna, he's gonna really push the running game on Andy.
We gotta have, we gotta have balance at some point.
Plus now, we did hire Where, where is my, where is my thing here?
We did hire a new, running backs coach in DeMarcus Mur- DeMarcus Murray, is that right?
Did I say that right?
DeMarco Murray, sorry.
DeMarco.
Yes, DeMarco Murray, so we have a new running backs coach, plus we got some other guys that come in, Terry Braden Jr., Nate Pagan, and CJ Cox as some, you know, some of the guys that go back a little bit farther, you know, some quality control, offensive/defensive quality co- coaches, assistive defensive line coaches, some guys with some more experience over guys that we had.
So yeah, I'm looking forward to Mahomes, Kelce, a nice running game, and a potential hard push for the Super Bowl this season, and I think that mainly because right now I think we have coaches that can get it done.

As much as I tried to defend Matt Nagy for what happened in Chicago, man, I tell you what, it felt like it hurt in Kansas City.
Well, how long has Matt Nagy there?
He was quarterbacks coach for, what, two years?
one year.
I think it was just- Was it- ... one year.
For one year?
Yeah, and then as soon as EB left for Washington, they boosted him up to OC.
So that's been, what?
Two, three years, but, I mean, to be fair, he did- he was part of getting those Super Bowl runs, too.
He was.
So- But how much work was he actually or how much was he putting in to the play calling and all that stuff?
Right.
How much was he just the coach on the sideline, and Andy was making the calls?
How much more of it this year was Mahomes on the fly, and Mahomes changing things in the huddle and, you know, calling audibles compared to what they actually called onto the field?...
and they gave Mahomes a lot more power.
I agree with you 100%.
I think at some point, as much of a game manager as Mahomes is, you've gotta put in plays and say, "You need to run these plays."
You can't- You have your two options from what your defense says, but you can't keep adjusting it and playing the game that you wanna play.
Right.
The RPO- the RPOs need to come out, you know?
Because obviously I, I think, I think Pat Mahomes is one of the- one of, if not the greatest quarterback to play the game.
You know, only secondary to, Tom Brady.
Tom.
I think Tom, Tom could- Tom Brady could He could have been the head coach and the quarterback at the same time.
He didn't even he, he didn't even need a head coach.
He could do it all from the field.
I think he was that great of a quarterback.
I mean, he didn't really have much of a head coach anyways.
That's true.
And he- His head coach was always playing balls- You know, and his, his hoodies didn't have much of a sleeve either, but I just I, I'm, I'm really looking forward to seeing what this new coaching staff can do with the team.
But we gotta have a run game, and as much as I love Pacheco, the old Pikachu, you know, Run Angry, I mean, since his first injury, he has not been the same.
He doesn't run angry.
He doesn't plow through like he used to when he was- his, his, rookie year, he was just running through the line.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, and popping up and being like, "Yo, let's go again."
Yeah.
"Let's go again."
Yeah, "I can, I can go another four yards if you wanna hop on my back."
I love Kareem Hunt.
I was so excited when they brought him back.
you know, and he- I thought he had a really good year this year for what he was called upon to do.
Mm-hmm.
You know, when we needed him to come in and come up with one or two yards, he, he was there.
He didn't have a lot of breakaways.
I think he had a couple that were less than 10 yards, I think, maybe 15 at the most.
I'd have to go back and look through his entire stats for the season, but I'd love to see him come back on a, you know, a smaller- a small deal, maybe a little bit more than what he made this last season, but I think he's worth it.
But I think Pacheco can go, as much as I, I, I liked Isaiah Pacheco.
and then we've got Rashaad Smith, who they don't even know if he's going to be the, you know, number two or number one running back.
They're talking, talking more that he's just going to be a punt and kick returner.
And, you know, different reports will be like, "Well, he's, you know, he's really good out of the backfield," but another report said he wasn't very good out of the backfield.
And it's like, how do you judge that?
Because he didn't really get a lot of shit thrown at him out of the backfield.
Mm-hmm.
So whereas Kareem, I watched his career when he first come through, man, he was a great back out of the backfield.
Was able to get out into the, into the open middle and get open and then, you know, blast it for 10, 15 yards before they brought him down, which is where I think they ought to plant Juju when they bring him back, is running cross routes and, and letting him get the yak.
But that being said, as we look over the mock drafts of the draft coming in April, I've got two of them up here from, One from Daniel Jeremiah and one from, Bucky Brooks, both of them predicting the 2026 draft.
And obviously, everybody's got the number one pick going to, Fernando Mendoza- ... to the Raiders, which, you know, not only is he a, a Heisman Trophy winner and a national champion for the Indiana Hoosiers!
Do you wanna do it?

he's also, you know- they say he's gonna be a good fit for the new head coach there, and that they have a lot of the same kind of, passions and ideas, and it's just gonna, it's just gonna work.

I don't know that you could put any quarterback in the Raiders, to make it work, but you know, what- whatever.
They're gonna try.
They're gonna- I mean- I just- ...
I, I, no matter what, that's, that's, that's for your first-round pick.
Mendoza's going number one to the Raiders.

I can't Unless some- for some reason, somebody that really needs a quarterback finds a way to trade up with them, which I highly doubt.
Unless it's like a, you know, a player and, like, five picks for the next two years or whatever.
Right.
There's Yeah, it's not gonna I, I don't see it.
I, I, I think the Raiders have had their eyes on him for a long, long time, and K- is it Kubiak?
I think that this is- ... this is his guy.
This is Tom Brady's guy, you know, with Tom actually owning a portion of the Raiders, a percentage.
Right.
you know, he was at the, he was at the national championship game.
He was down there rubbing elbows with Mendoza, and, you know I mean, he's doing what he's doing.
He's, he's being a good, being a good owner, and I think that this is, this is where he's gonna land, and I think he's okay with it, and the Raiders are okay with it.
Yeah.
And I think, I think America's okay with it.
I would say so.
But will they ruin him?
That's the problem.
And then will they bring back Max, Max Crosby, you know?
That's another thing.
I mean, if they lose Max, that defense is shot.
Anyway, no, no more Raider talk.
then it gets jarbled, Chico.
I mean- Yeah, it, the Jets have the number two pick.
Did you realize the Jets have two picks in the top, is it 15, or is it, is it 20?
Um- The top 16.
They have two picks in the top 16.
Mm-hmm.
That's insane!
Friggin' They're getting it done.
They are, getting something done.
but they are known to ruin but really good players, too.
But, you know, one of them's got, Reese going, from Ohio State.
The other one's got Bailey going from, Texas Tech, and then it just garbles.
It just garbles through the rest of it.
one's got Ruben Bain going to Tennessee, the other one has Ruben Bain going, what did I say, Baltimore, in, like, the 12th or 14th pick, which is- Mm-hmm ... insane.
Because I- Bain is the name that keeps coming up in Kansas City's world.
Right.
I've s- seen him multiple times.
Yeah.
But he's a, a, a really good edge rusher, and they say that he'll complement, Karl Lawfus extremely well, and that that would free up Jones a little bit more from these double and triple teams that he keeps getting, which, you know, now you've got three guys coming in.
So whether Bain is going number 4 or going number 14, you know, we'll find out draft night, because we're not 100% sure.
But the only thing that clicks, that clicks back the same in both of these mock drafts is that number nine pick: Jeremiah Love- Mm-hmm ... running back.
Sorry, still working through this cold.
So how do you feel about that?
Would you be okay with them taking Love?
would you m- be in love with that idea?
Yeah, I mean, especially if we do rebuild that running back room a little bit, and with Eric Bieniemy, and you know how he likes to groom younger, younger- Mm-hmm ... players.
That's his thing, so I mean, bring him in a new running back.
He was a running backs coach.
He knows what he's talking about.
Get him in there, teach the kid really well early, and you might have a- Build him.
Yeah, you might have a future Hall of Famer right there.
Right.
Well, he looked good in Notre Dame.
I wa- you know- Mm-hmm ... Notre Dame only being an hour away from us, you know, we get to see all the games on TV.
we actually was at one this last season.
don't know if I'll ever go back.
I mean, I love the atmosphere.
The p- the people were great, but man, that is not Arrowhead seating in that place, let me tell you.
We are spoiled rotten with, Arrowhead seating.
I mean, he's a- he's, he's got great vision.
He put up great numbers this last season.
He's good out of the backfield.
He's, Supposedly, he's good out of the backfield.
so take that for what it is, but I, I'm excited to see what, what number nine is gonna draw.
If some it You know, there was rumors that New Orleans was gonna take him, but both of these have either an edge rusher or a wide receiver going to New Orleans.
So I mean, it's all over the place, but those number nine is both checked in to Jeremiah Love, so- Yeah, mm-hmm ... it'll be interesting.
So now you're gonna get a wide receiver at a rookie price, even if it's a I mean, it's still a number one pick, but it's still a rookie contract.
Mm-hmm.
So you're gonna get a, a, an elite rusher, a running back Sorry, not rusher, a running back, a rookie contract.
So yeah, you could afford to maybe bring back Tyreek or keep Dre Tranquill so- in some form.
I mean, to break that, to break that up is gonna be in- insane, but, um- Or to bring somebody up from, you know, a practice squad or, you know, whether Burchard Smith stays or- Right ... when Pacheco leaves, so you have Hunt, Smith, and Love.
Yeah.
Be a good running back room, I think.
Mm-hmm.

we did talk about DeMarco Murray coming in, the new running backs coach- Mm-hmm ... which I think is important.
they did not get, the interview with the, Raiders' running back coach like they wanted, like they'd asked about.
Raiders didn't have to, let it happen, and they didn't, so and that's fine.
I think DeMarcus, DeMarco Murray coming back is gonna be a good thing.
But man, let me, let me say this real quick.
congratulations to Pat Brazil, and I guarantee that most anybody who listens to this podcast or watches the Kansas City Chiefs or is an NFL fan or any of that has ever heard of a Pat Brazil.
But Pat- Yep ... Brazil, is actually earned a well, or has a well-earned retirement after an outstanding career as the director of video operations, at his 10-year with Kansas City.
he helped capture three Super Bowl championships, 10 AFC West Division titles, and countless unforgettable moments that will live on in Chiefs history.
So thank you, Pat.

I mean, just a little bit about his ACL, and, I mean, we kinda covered it a little bit, but will, will he be back, I think is one of the biggest questions I saw this week is I mean, it, it, 12, 12 or eight to 12 months to heal an ACL properly.

that's with the proper rehab, proper workouts, all that stuff, which you know he will do, and he has been pushing the, you know, since day one, after his surgery, to heal that thing better.
Um- Yeah.
But yeah, the big question I saw was, will he come back, or will it be 2027 before we see Pat back in Kansas City or on the field in Kansas City?
'Cause we'll see him in a booth somewhere- ... if he's not playing.
Or on the field, to be honest.
He'll probably have a headset on- Right ... right there next to Bama, and- Right ... and, so it'll be interesting to see, you know, come training camp and all that, whether he's actually out there on the field.

Yeah, it's weird to think 12 months, and- Yeah ... that being a year, and it would literally Doesn't sound like a long time, and then you look out on the calendar, and you're back into N- late November of '26.

I don't s- in all honesty, I don't see him starting the season.
You know, coming right out of the tear, getting the surgery immediately, and being in rehab the next day, you know, tends to put a little different spin on, the healing power of Patrick Mahomes.

Um- ... you know, we've seen it in the past with, with, the ankle and not having any idea that he'd be back the next week in the playoffs, and there he is, you know, training Training staff gets, gets him back up and running, and But I don't know that I- we'll see him start, but I don't think that he'll sit out the whole 2026.
I think that, that the Andy and, and EB will go out and find themselves a suitable, second-string quarterback who can play at, at that high octane with players like Kelce and Worthy and Rice, and just get them through those first five, six games before Pat comes back.
'Cause I, I just don't see him sitting out the whole entire season, and I get what you're saying, 12 months.

So I think that is sometime early March, if I'm I gotta go back and look that up to find out when free agency starts, and there's not a lot of moves that can be made.
Tyreek move can be made right this second- Right ... because he's not a free agent.
He just was released.
So you don't have to go through the rigmarole of all the free agency stuff because he's not necessarily a free agent.
They just kicked his ass to the curb, so.
