Embiid 'changes everything' for 76ers vs. Knicks
Trysta Krick and Vaughn Dalzell break down the 76ers ' chances of pulling off the upset against the Knicks , in both Game 1 and the overall playoff series.
Video Transcript
The Sixers, Vaughn, beat the Celtics in game seven at the Garden, and now they're headed just down the road to New York City to take on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Everybody for the Sixers is healthy now.
They have coalesced into something that is feeling like a fever dream, Embiid says he feels great.
The total here is 212 and a half, and New York, all that considered, is still set favored by seven and a half.
Is that too many points?
Yeah, more than likely.
I mean, recede bias is gonna make the Knicks obviously a bigger favorite here, given the two whoopings they were giving Atlanta in the final few games.
But Joel Embiid changes everything.
I mean, he does look great.
Like, he doesn't look like he has any issues.
There's no fatigue coming off that surgery three weeks ago, and Boston had no answers for them.
They went through Keita, Vucevic, Garza.
Like, none of these guys had answers for anything Joel Embiid was throwing at them.
So Karl-Anthony Towns or Mitchell Robinson, these guys get in foul trouble here, it's really some deep water for the Knicks.
And I mean, I have no idea why Joe Mazzulla, Trista, would say, "Jalen Brown, you go out and guard Embiid one-on-one."
But I think the Knicks are smarter than that.
They won't do that this series.
Offensively, though, Sixers have enough in the tank to keep it close.
Paul George, V.J.
Edgecomb, Tyrese Maxey, all great secondary or primary options.
So yeah, give me the Sixers plus the seven and a half.
I think the underdogs are great bets in game one to shake up the series, and I think the Sixers can win the series and might win the East, Trista.
I'm getting the fever dream here.
I'm with you.
Yeah, I, I totally agree.
I think not only Joel Embiid, but the offensive fir- firepower of the Sixers is gonna be just enough to keep up with New York, and I don't know how they stop Joel Embiid.
I'm 100% in agreement with you
