Florida State Fires Mike Norvell, Owes Buyout of Just Over $48.6 Million
Florida State fired Mike Norvell on Sunday after a 36-24 home loss to Clemson, ending his tenure eight games into his seventh season. Under a recently renegotiated agreement, he is owed just over $48.6 million. That would be the third-biggest payout in college football history, behind Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M and Brian Kelly at LSU, though the bill could shrink if he takes another coaching job. Norvell got his extension after an undefeated 2023 regular season and a league title. The Seminoles then went 7-17 over 2024 and 2025 and lost 17 of his last 21 league games.
