Flyers Cruising Towards NHL Playoffs on Strength of Young Talent
NEWARK, N.J. -- Contrary to recent precedent, the Philadelphia Flyers are beginning to prove that teams can compete with a core of elite, talented young wingers. Look at the shell-shocked Prudential Center as proof.

But it was an in- interesting game.
the Anaheim Ducks who have been struggling, you know, they, they played the Philadelphia Flyers, which meant it was a chance for us to kinda look back on the Zegras for Cutter Gauthier trade.
Zegras scored twice.
after one goal, he did a celebration where he basically feigned picking up the phone and then slammed it down, which was, I guess, a reflection of how quickly, his phone call went when he found out he was being traded from Anaheim to Philadelphia, which is just great.
we're talking about players showing personality, that's personality.
Yeah.
Drew, what do you think's changed the most about Zegras' game this season?
Well, how about his interview after the game too?
Talking about personality.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, that was great.
Yeah, I can't repeat it, 'cause there wa- there was a lot of F-bombs there.
There was, there was.
There And I was surprised at how many there were, but- Mm-hmm I mean, talk about a guy who was fired up, showing his personality.
But I mean, I just think it was a time where he came into the league, he had some success playing center.
They obviously made a coaching change in Anaheim, who probably I could see not getting along with Zegras' personality very well.
They put him on the wing where he has said historically in his career he has not felt as comfortable.
Then he obviously goes to Philadelphia.
New coaching staff.
Plays the majority of the time at center.
I know he's playing at the- on the wing last night.
But gets off to a great start.
He's obviously a guy that needs to play with confidence, and he has found that.
And I was happy for him, you know what I mean?
Like, you see guys who kinda go through it a little bit, end up getting traded, and now he's having a great year.
So I was happy for it.
Loved the celebration and loved the interview.
Yeah.
No, I'm with you, Drew.
And, the league is more fun when Trevor Zegras is having fun.
You know?
Like, when he first came into the league, and it wasn't even that long ago, I mean, you know, such an outgoing kid, and obviously has so much skill, and, and uses it in fun ways.
Yeah.
That I, I think it's nice that he's been re- reborn in Philly.
And it is too bad, like, w- you know, what would he have done in Anaheim under Joel Quenneville?
Maybe it would've been a completely different scenario, but hindsight is 20/20.
What we do know is that him and Rick Tocchet seem to be on the same page in Philly, and that's great for the Flyers.
And, you know, Cutter Gauthier has been massive for the Ducks.
So sometimes you get those trades that work out for both teams, and, it's, it's nice to see.
Yeah.
So, so would you say it's a wash?
Like, you know, neither team won nor lost?
Kinda feels like it.
I, I'm not sure how many points Zegras has this year, but I mean, Anaheim's doing better than expected, in general.
And, you know, the Flyers are hanging around in the Metro, so yeah, seems like a wash
