Flyers Interested In Wrong Oilers Player With Bad Contract
This forgotten goalie could be worth a flier.

What do we think is, like, the value of this whole experience, I guess, for the Philadelphia Flyers, for players like that, for, for this younger team?
You know what?
I think it's really about maturity.
And, you know, Philadelphia's big downfall in game three was their discipline.
I know they have injuries, but, like, I don't know how you play Christian Dvorak in game four.
Like, how do you not learn after the first time that you can't put a guy in a headlock and throw him to the ice after the whistle?
Like, he took two penalties for that, and then he had a puck o- over the glass penalty, you know, late in the game as well.
But just in general, you could see that the Flyers, they wanted to be physical.
They were obviously angry about the Taylor Hall hit on Travis Sanheim, but it's like, it's the pl- it's the playoffs.
Like, stop putting Carolina on the power play.
And I think those are messages that, you know, this summer, when they look back on things, they'll say, like, "Okay, controlled aggression."
You know?
Mm-hmm.
Stop at the whistle.
Siobhan Nolan, our Philadelphia Flyers team site editor, you know, she had a great quote from Rick Tocchet post-game where he said just that, where it's like, look guys, you, you know you can't do it after the whistle.
Or if you're gonna fight, actually fight.
Like, don't just get roughing penalties 'cause that doesn't do anything.
Um- Right and you're only getting one for yourself.
You're not taking the Canes along with you.
Yeah, yeah.
Scumbag hockey moves to avoid.
Yeah, it feels like, Carolina took a page out of Florida.
they learned a lot from that conference final loss last year, Ryan, because th- they have been suckering.
You know, they suckered in Ottawa, I think, into a physical game that didn't work out for the Senators.
And true to your point, Christian Dvorak is, you know, on the losing end of some physicality.
And, you know, then you've got Taylor Hall running around, just, you know, nailing Travis Sanheim, you know, in a questionable hit.
I actually thought that, you know, the refs called that one right.
I thought it was a, just a two-minute call.
You know- Yeah Sanheim was falling down.
But, you know, they've been wizzing, winning the physical battles.
Obviously, they're winning the goaltending battles.
And it just seems like Carolina is just, you know, whatever buttons Rod Brind'Amour is pushing a- are totally working out.
And Katie, to your original point, you know, this is great experience for the Flyers.
Like, they have so many young guys.
It's not just Porter Martone, it's guys like Alex Bump, it's Denver Barkey.
It's, you know, Zegras is still kinda young.
And- Zegras I, I even gotta believe that a, a guy like Matvei Michkov, who's been in the doghouse for most- Sure of the playoffs, he's learning just from being around all this.
So, you know, this Flyers team, I don't know if it's gonna be a straight line trajectory for next season, but- Mm-hmm you know, just making the second round at this level or at this juncture of their development i- is gonna prove dividends, overall.
