Former Sharks D Brent Burns Signs Extension With Avalanche
Over the weekend, there was a bunch of news dropping at once as the NHL Draft approached. One piece of news that many have slipped under the radar for many, was former San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns signing a new one-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche.

Free agency period sneaking up on us right after this draft.
So really quickly, we don't have to dive too far into an explanation, but I'd love to know for each of you who is a top UFA defenseman, center, and winger that you see out on the market.
And I, I will acknowledge that this is not the greatest especially now UFA pool because everybody's already doing their business way before free agency.
Yeah.
Yeah, this, this is easily the worst free agent, list that I've ever seen in- you know, post salary cap era.
you know, our number one guy might be Alex Ovechkin, and your number two guy might be Rasmus Andersen, who was just awful in the playoffs.
And- Yeah we talked about how there's a, you know, not many centers, you know, top line centers available in the draft.
Well, get ready for the number one center available in free agency.
It might be, you know, is it Jack Roslovic?
Is it Scott Laughton?
Are we talking about a Boone Jenner?
Like, this is- not looking good, Katie.
No.
So, you know, a- again, I'll say Rasmus Andersen on D, Alex Ovechkin on the wing, and I'll actually say Jack Roslovic just because of, you know, he showed well in Edmonton last year.
There you go.
And I'll toss in for goaltending- Okay does Frederik Andersen hit the open market?
Oh, yeah.
Good point.
Right?
I mean, Carolina clearly doesn't actually need him anymore.
They won the Stanley Cup with Brandon Bussi.
Yep.
But Frederik Andersen did play, you know, fairly well before, you know- Oh, sure he got hurt.
So if you're a team that needs a veteran goaltender, Freddy Andersen might be the answer for you.
