Sergei Bobrovsky is taking his talents to Toronto.
The future Hall of Famer, who has won two Stanley Cups with the Florida Panthers in recent memory, is now joining the Maple Leafs on a three-year pact worth 7 million per season.
Michael Traikos, how do we feel about Officer Bob coming to Leafs Nation?
If you're a Leafs fan, you have to love, love the moves that John Chayka has been making this off-season, Ryan.
You know, it starts with Gavin McKenna.
It goes to Darren Raddysh on the blue line, and now you add in a number one goalie.
And you could argue the Leafs have not had a number one legit goaltender since, I don't know, maybe Ed Belfour, and we're talking, like, early 2000s.
And that's what Bob is.
He's a guy who obviously has won a Vezina.
He's won Stanley Cups.
But he brings that swagger, and you add him to a team that has Anthony Stolarz, that has Artur Akhtyamov, that has Dennis Hildeby, and the Leafs have the kind of depth that I think any NHL team would be jealous of.
So we'll see what kind of moves, the Leafs are gonna make in regards to their goaltending.
Are they gonna keep all four guys?
they've already traded Joseph Woll.
Does that mean that maybe an Anthony Stolarz, who backed up Bob in Florida, is also going out the door?
We'll see.
But right now, this is a playoff team.
I dare say this is a Stanley Cup contending team.
It's gonna be very interesting because, you know, you have those young guys and, you know, hey, injuries happen.
But, you know, with Sergei Bobrovsky, all of a sudden you have a playoff goaltender, right?
Like, this is a guy that steps up when, the pressure is at its highest, and that's exactly what Toronto has craved in recent years.
And worst case scenario, they don't have to face him in the first round.
