Gerrit Cole, Austin Wells and Aaron Boone comment on Cole's long-awaited return to Yankees
For Gerrit Cole , the arduous journey to getting back on the mound at Yankee Stadium culminated in the best way possible: six innings of shutout ball in a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Rays. Cole compared it to making a second MLB debut. He termed his performance "efficient" and is already looking ahead to his next start against Kansas City . Cole did take time out to compliment catcher Austin Wells on his preparation who in turn said it was good to have him back. Manager Aaron Boone expects Cole to get even better and expects to see more of his "swing and miss stuff" as he progresses.
