Lars Nootbaar of the Arizona Diamondbacks hit the first pitch of the game dead center field for a home run, and that was a sign of things to come today for the Giants as the Diamondbacks score 10 off of 12 hits, and they beat up on the Giants pitcher today to even up this four-game set.
But it was a long game because of all the ABS challenges, something we'll touch on in just a second here on Toyota Giants Postgame Live.
With two-time World Series champion George Costas, I am Bante Hill.
Giants did make it interesting in the middle innings, down six-five, but Spencer Bivens could not stop the bleeding there, and the Arizona Diamondbacks run away with it.
Obviously, Blake Tidwell did not have his best stuff today, but man, this is gonna be about the umpiring crew, man.
They were off their games at Oracle Park.
We saw that statistic right there in the ninth inning.
10 successful challenges, which is the most in a ninth in- nine-inning game this season in all of baseball.
And I'm sure we're gonna hear a little bit more about it, but Alan Porter seemed to have a real quick trigger- Yeah with Tony Vitello and Logan Webb today.
We saw the replay on that, on that foul ball.
That seemed very, very foul, foul, and, and then Tony, Tony V made, made a little hand gesture, and there was a quick trigger right there with not even much being said.
But to your point, you know, Tidwell didn't really have his good stuff today.
Mm-hmm.
Gave up those three homers.
The third inning was obviously a little bit of a lopsided one.
Yeah.
Three homers in the game, two doubles, and then two singles.
It just seemed like there were too many mistakes over the middle of the plate.
Only walked one, punched out, how many?
Four guys.
Yeah.
But the three homers was just too much to overcome, and this is an aggressive Arizona Diamondbacks team.
Yeah.
These guys are going, they are going into the batter's box, and they're looking to swing the bat.
They're looking to be aggressive early, and when those pitches stay over the middle of the plate, those are the ones that they can do damage with.
Yeah, Tim Tidwell had the big blast in that third inning with the three-run jack in the top of the third to give Arizona a commanding six to two lead.
Six to three lead, excuse me here, but we gotta talk about Nolan Arenado in just a second.
Real quick on Tony Vitello, his fifth ejection of the season.
That's second most in baseball to only Don Kelly of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
That's twice he's been ejected in three games, and both have been quick hooks.
It feels like he's not getting the proper respect from some of these umpiring crews, Georgie.
I, I have to agree with you.
It s- it seems like some of these umpires are maybe looking to try to make an example of a guy who hasn't been around this level of the game for that long, and, and being, being somebody who came from the college ranks.
I agree with you.
The other, the other days was very, very quick to trigger today, and today Alan Porter threw him out much faster, I think.
I mean, and, and, and, and to Tony's credit, he went out there and he got, he got his money's worth.
Yeah.
I mean, we, we got to see some of those, some of the lip readings on the TV.
Mm-hmm.
I was like, "Ooh, man, he's letting them have it."
Hopefully, the kids were asleep at home.
Yeah, right.
That was past their bedtime.

You see the double, the run, but the controversial double which got Tony V the boot in his baseball game.
We'll show it in just a second, but he's on a tear, giving the Diamondbacks a nice boost this season.
He is on a tear.
This is his 13th Major League season, and Nolan Arenado, and, and look, he loves playing in this ballpark.
He always has.
Even when he was in the, black and purple with the Colorado Rockies, he felt right at home playing here at Oracle Park.
And, the defense, as we know, is always stellar.
He's been a little bit, he's been, he can be a little bit streaky with the bat, but he's been awfully consistent lately.
And when he's rolling really, really comfortably- Yeah in that batter's box, he can do damage all over the place.
Loves to pull, a- as we've seen, loves to pull the baseball.
When he goes the other way, it's not with as much power.
But I mean, look, the guy's been around the game for a very long time.
Yeah.
And, and whenever he's in the batter's box, you kind of, you always kind of from a fan perspective have to- Yeah just tip your hat and be like, "Man, this guy's had an incredible career."
