Giants Cornerback Battle Could Decide Their Defensive Future

The New York Giants enter training camp with questions surrounding their starting cornerback duo. With Paulson Adebo, Greg Newsome, rookie Colton Hood, and Deonte Banks all competing for roles, the Giants have a major position battle to watch.

Video Transcript

First storyline that I'm gonna be watching closely is the most unresolved position group right now on the defense, maybe on the roster, is what is the starting corner duo going to look like?

Is it just going to be confirmed and locked in that it's gonna be Paulson Adebo and Greg Newsome?

Are we just gonna move forward with those two guys having signed Newsome in free agency and Adebo in free agency last year?

Both are quality players, both have had successful seasons, both have had their ups and downs.

Both should be capable of starting for this Giants team.

But they're not the only other players in the mix, especially Colton Hood, who was just drafted in the second round of this past draft.

I think that the corner position is probably going to change throughout the course of the year.

But what does this group look like early on?

How quickly does Colton Hood establish himself as a key piece in the secondary?

Is he slow to get going?

Is he somebody that doesn't start right away, or is he just gonna completely immediately unseat Greg Newsome?

His success, I think, is integral for the Giants taking a leap and showing signs of improvement and becoming the backbone of the identity of this team
