They've had, you know, again, a disappointing road trip.
And then it ends the way it ends today with Rafael Devers, like, going full Mutombo on his manager.
I don't think I've ever seen someone try to turn back a pinch runner.
The end of the game with the fastest guy on the team having his one job to do this.
Like, you got on base.
Great.
Yeah.
Now let us make the chess move that naturally comes next.
I, I kinda can't believe he did that .
And, it is, this is no original thought, but it's just a bad look for a team that's been full of bad looks this entire season.
Yeah.
And is not making it really easy for people to find reasons to cheer for him, in a lot of different ways, this entire season.
So I think bad look's the way to put it.
And just all around, I didn't even really like Tony's reaction to it.
I don't know.
Would like to see a little bit of I've heard he's kind of lit into him a couple times behind closed doors.
Kinda like to see something there.
Like some- Yeah some reaction.
Yeah.
H- his, his response was basically what?
Like, "We like that energy.
We'd rather have that than the opposite"?
It feels disingenuous.
It's like, "Hey, that dude really wants to be out there."
And we do know that about Rafael Devers.
Yeah.
Where you, you can say what you want about his, his run here in San Francisco, has been disappointing I think for the most part.
The, the numbers we went over a week ago, 'cause it's the one-year anniversary of, of the trade and, what was it, like 209 strikeouts in 162 games.
Mm-hmm.
just not really jumping off the page.
Certainly the trade has not worked out the way the Giants wanted it to.
record wise has not worked out either.
But he does post every day.
So there, there's that part of it.
Then he goes in the dugout and Jason Sigmore ti- tries to pat him on the bat, back and like he did like the, you know, the kid lava game thing.
Like you're, whatever.
What?
Yeah.
Like- Nice guy.
So And you can kinda, like if you go back and watch it, you see some of the faces in the dugout, like the shock on some of his teammates' faces.
Yeah.
so that I, I think made it seem a little bit worse than, than just on the field.
I, I mean, he was clearly not just It, it didn't seem like a miscommunication.
By the time he got back to the dugout, actually seemed angry.
I believe he has talked to the beat reporters one time all year.
Mm-hmm.
He doesn't do the post game interviews.
He doesn't talk to the media.
and this is where I would kinda go like it's easy to laugh at us as a group and go like, "Yeah, nobody should talk to you guys."
But in situations like this, you probably want to know what he's thinking from the reporters in Miami.
Absolutely.
And would like to know if he's pissed off.
Would like to know if he was, it was a miscommunication, if he doesn't respect his manager, things like that.
It's been an ongoing thing for over a year now that he does not talk to the media.
which I think some people, a lot of people probably have figured out, probably have not seen a lot of Devers quotes.
But in a situation like this, I think that's where you kind of go like, "Hey, that was the biggest story of today's game," and you make your teammates speak for you.
And I, I just- Exactly.
It's gonna be a story whether he talks or not.
And the- Yeah the space where his quotes, his reaction, his thoughts are needed will be filled by speculation, by- Yeah his teammates having to pick up the slack, by rumors.
Who knows what?
And yeah, he needs to be out there.
