s- speaking of non-GMs, Jim Rutherford, who wasn't the GM but was the guy always talking to media, he's now stepping down and gonna assume more of an advisor role.
But Vancouver Canucks, you know, we're talking winners, losers in the draft lottery.
Well, Vancouver having the number one overall pick taken from them and dropping down to number three, a, a tough blow, for a team that's been going through it for the last couple years.
But Ryan, what should fans in Vancouver look forward to after losing the lottery?
Is there something that they should be looking forward to this summer?
I think so.
you know, this draft, has a pretty good high end.
So even though they're picking third, and, you know, they're not gonna have McKenna, a lot of people are saying right now they anticipate that they could go with Caleb Malhotra, the center from the Brantford Bulldogs in the OHL, because they think, you know, the Canucks need a center of the future.
And it's also kind of interesting because his dad, Manny, works for the organization right now, and might even get a new role soon, depending on, what they do, with their, their coaching situation.
That might be kind of awkward, or it might be great.
Who knows?
But that's a case where maybe I don't have Malhotra ranked third, but I don't mind it because he's an incredible player, and he's been really good in the playoffs, for the Bulldogs, who actually just got knocked out, of the, the OHL postseason.
But, I mean, he was fantastic, and, and he'll be a great player.
So I think whether it's Malhotra or if they go with one of those elite defensemen we talked about, the Canucks are still gonna get a great player, and maybe even the chance to get the best player in the draft, you know?
Who knows who's gonna come out on top five years from now.
So it's, it's not the end of the world, Vancouver.
