Green Bay Packers: Micah Parsons News Isn’t New but It’s Still Concerning
Micah Parsons' return date remains a concern for the Green Bay Packers. His ACL tear means missing early 2026 games, amplifying roster gaps.

So we've known for a while that Micah Parsons is, I mean, barring a miracle of modern science and athleticism, he's not going to be ready for week one.
He wants to be ready for week one, but he's not going to be ready for week one.
What does that mean for the Packers?
Well, right now they're heading into the 2026 season with a starting edge of Lucas Van Ness, who had 1.5 sacks last season, and then a group of either Brenton Cox Jr., Baron Sorrell, Colin Oliver.
They had basically three sacks, four sacks total between this group of Van Ness, Cox, Sorrell, and Oliver.
Oliver didn't even get a sack.
He played in one game.
It was just kind of a toolsy guy with potential, but we have no idea who he is as a late-round pick.
It's not great.
Not great, Bob.
Right?
That's the old meme.
And the Packers have work to do when it comes to finding a veteran pass rusher who can come in.
I like Jadeveon Clowney a lot as somebody who can come in.
And at least for those first four weeks, more than likely Parsons is going to have to miss the first three games, maybe the first four games.
I'd anticipate at the latest he'll be back by week five, but they need to replace his production as best they can.
And unfortunately, planning on Lucas Van Ness to have that breakout, I just don't know if it's coming.
And I don't think it's coming.
And it's not a winning strategy to make that plan.
So the Packers need to address potentially an edge in free agency who can start right away.
Again, Jadeveon Clowney is a good example.
Cam Jordan, I believe, is still out there as a veteran who can just come in for a couple games and do something.
Also, they might need to address it in the second round of the NFL draft and find somebody who can be a starter from day one.
But either way, Parsons is not coming back for the first couple weeks.
That's not news.
