Guardians’ Angel Genao Making the Most of MLB Opportunity
Angel Genao has given the Cleveland Guardians an immediate spark after making his MLB debut.

Angel Hanau is about a week into his first action as being an MLB player, and so far he's running away with his opportunity and making the most of it as the Cleveland Guardians number two overall prospect has been one of their bright spots over the last couple of weeks.
Now, when Hanau was called up, the Cleveland Guardians number two overall prospect didn't really have a clear role as he was, coming into a well-established infield with Ramirez, Bazan, and Rocchio, but he could force the Guardians to make some tough decisions in the coming days as he continues to prove that he deserves more playing time in that Cleveland lineup.
Through his first 31 at-bats, Hanau has a .834 OPS.
His 10 hits are the fourth most on the Guardians over that stretch, and the underlying metrics are also in his favor as well.
His expected weighted on-base percentage of 335 is above league average.
He's hitting the ball hard with an average exit velocity of about ninety-two miles an hour and a hard hit rate of fifty-one point seven percent.
Now, yes, it's a very, very small sample size for Hanau, but it's hard to not be excited about what he can be as the future of this Guardians team.
Now, all that being said, obviously, Hanau is not a finished product, and there are still definitely some areas he must improve on as well.
Specifically, his chase rate has been a little bit concerning at times, and also that ground ball rate, which was a concern for him at the minor league level, has carried over to the big leagues too.
But with all that being said, Hanau is swinging a hot bat right now, and Cleveland can't afford to not have one of their hottest hitters in the lineup every single day.
Hanau is making the most of this first opportunity, and even though there's still some areas he needs to improve, it's hard to not to be excited about where he could go with this team in the future.
