If you're a script writer and you think back to Pete Alonso's career with the Mets, and the chance that this could be his final at bat as a Met, the tying runs are on, the Brewers lead two to nothing, and here is Alonso.

What's going through my head is, is, is a lot different than kind of how he paints it.

'Cause any time you kind of think of the drama or the game or what it means, if you kind of think of it in that way, the moment passes you by and you can never really capture it.

For me, I was just kind of locked in, just trying to do my job, which was get a good pitch to hit and, and, and hit it hard.

Three and one to Alonso.

Here's the pitch.

Swing and a fly ball to right field.

Pretty well hit.

Freelic back at the wall.

He jumps.

It's gone.

He did it.

He did it.

Pete Alonso keeps this fairy tale season going with the fairy tale swing of his career.

It's freaking magic when he makes a call like that.

He did it, he did it.

Everything that comes after that, off the cuff, was perfect.

Was a perfect call.

And I wanna be that when I'm 70 years old, right?

This is Howie Rose at his peak performance, and me just kind of going I'm sitting there realizing, "Holy , I just heard Mateau, Mateau, Mateau 2.0."

Like, I, I cannot believe that just happened.

A moment in time that will be frozen forever because it doesn't happen.

Pete, you were the central figure in that, so thank you.

And I trust that you and your family are having fun in Baltimore.
