The Indian Wemby!

Jagmeet Singh has been compared to Wemby. But can he live up to the hype?

Video Transcript

Scouts are already looking for the next Wemby, and we might have found him all the way out in India.

He stands seven foot four, can shoot, handle the rock, and of course, block shots left and right.

The scariest part?

He's still 17 years old and can still get taller.

Scouts and general managers are absolutely losing their minds over Jagmeet Singh, who recently went viral for his performance at Courtside Camp.

Most will say his performances were only impressive because he played kids half his size, but the offensive bag that he showed says otherwise.

Singh was doing Dirk Nowitzki fadeaways, Steph Curry-like threes in transition, and bullied defenders in the post like Joel Embiid.

He's been so good, Jeff Teague even mentioned him in his podcast.

Singh only started playing basketball four years ago and has already been deemed one of the best prospects from India.

It didn't take long for him to join their under-16 national team before spending the next few years developing his skills in Chicago.

The biggest knack on his game, or every player his size for that matter when he makes the NBA, is how he can add strength and defend the perimeter.

The good news for Singh is that he'll have time to prove the doubters wrong.

The earliest year where Singh will be eligible to join the draft is in 2027.

The last Indian-born player to make the NBA was another seven-footer in Satnam Singh.

He was taken with the 52nd pick of the 2015 draft, but only made the Mavs G League roster.

Time will tell whether Singh can make the NBA and make the same impact as Wemby.

One thing we do know for sure is that Wemby is slowly changing the game.

Teams are now going by the principles of you can't teach height.

In this world, it's rare you see seven foot four hoopers, and there's even fewer of them who move the way Singh and Wemby do.
