Grant Cohn gives his instant analysis of Day 10 of San Francisco 49ers training camp.

Video Transcript

Day 10 of training camp is over and Christian McCaffrey finally didn't practice.

The team said he has tightness, which is as vague as could freaking be.

In the 2 years ago, they said he had calf tightness that turned out to be bilateral Achilles tendonitis and he missed half the season.

This is Just general tightness.

So that means it's potentially catastrophic or no big deal at all.

Somewhere in that spectrum.

I'm guessing it's, I'm guessing it's no big deal because he didn't practice yesterday.

How could you get tightness the day after your day off?

This just seems like a, a veteran who came to the coaching staff and was like, yo, I'm Little tight today .

I'd rather not practice.

You know who else didn't practice today, I haven't seen in a week?

Nick Bosa, Kyle Uszek, um, Mike Evans.

It's almost like all the old guys got old and, and, and lasted for a week, but Trent Williams is still out there.

Shout out to Trent Williams.

So who was the starting running back today because all the running backs are hurt.

McCaffrey, Jordan James, Kaitlin Black, Isaac Grendo, the starting running back was Debo.

Unfortunately.

And they put him out on, on a route against uh Dre Greenlaw in the flat and he dropped the ball.

So that's not great.

But Dajon Stribling was out there and I think right now he's the best wide receiver on the whole team.

He's the only wide receiver that you need to fear.

He's big, he's fast, and he's fearless over them.

He's got big, big hands, uh, and he has great, great hand-eye coordination.

I'm not saying he's a, he's a Pro Bowler right now, but he's the only wide receiver you got to worry about.

DeMarcus Robinson is solid.

That's a cool number 12.

It might be the It's a bottom 5 starting wide receiver tandem and then Debo at running back, yikes.

But uh I, I don't know that Mike Evans is gonna come back and save this.

They need Stribling to be really good.

They need Brock Purdy to be really good.

He was really good today.

He's having a great camp except for a couple of days ago, that was my fault.

Um, but if this team is that running backs are going nowhere.

But again, I don't think it's a big deal.

I just feel like old people took days off.

We'll see.
