Islam Makhachev puts Ian Machado Garry in rare company after UFC 330

Islam Makhachev retained the UFC welterweight title at UFC 330 after a back-and-forth five-round bout with Ian Garry. At UFC 330, the champion leaned on his wrestling as Garry and his team limited takedown and submission attempts. In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Makhachev said Garry gave him a "hard" fight and compared the challenge to his first meeting with Alexander Volkanovski. He credited coach Demian Maia for sharpening Garry's grappling. The win extended Makhachev's UFC streak to 17, a new record. Garry will now work back toward contention, with Carlos Prates and Michael Morales also pursuing the 170-pound title.
