Jackson Spencer Ends His Historic High School Career at the PRE Classic
Jackson Spencer concluded an historic senior season against top professionals at the Prefontaine Classic. He ran 3:57.34, finishing 13th overall.

Congratulations.
To be able just to get to this moment, how did it feel going out there racing with the pros?
I mean, that was so cool.
I went into this race just really excited for the experience and the opportunity to race with people that are a lot better than me.
So, it's definitely a big switch to, like, actually racing with people, so it was really cool to just be able to, to have the opportunity.
It was fun.
You closed really good in that, still being able to run a 357.
Like, how does it feel to be able to basically tie your personal record still in a race like this?
I mean, it's cool.
going into the race, I didn't even like The, the last couple weeks have been really hard with training, so I didn't even know if I was gonna break four, honestly.
So I mean, I just really, I'm really glad that I was able to come out with, like, close to a personal best.
I do wish it could've been faster, like I always do, but- Yeah I mean, I should be happy with it because I gave it a good, like one of my good efforts, so I, I, I think it's great.
What does it mean to be, mean to you to be one of the four high schoolers competing at the Pre Classic?
Like, I talked to Tate earlier today just about how, like, you guys are kind of redefining what it means to be, like, a great high school athlete now these days.
Like, what does it mean to kind of be a part of this age of tracklation, as they're saying?
I mean, it's pretty cool.
I mean, being on top of high school or when everyone is, like, faster than ever before, it's like a surreal feeling.
So I just think it's really neat to be able to, like, be put in these scenarios and have this opportunity to be really good at something that I like to do.
So, I, I, I'm just really gra- grateful, grateful to the Lord, and grateful to everyone who's been able to put me in this scenario.
Do you have any other summer races on the schedule, or is this it?
This is, this is my last one.
So I'm gonna take some deserved time off, and then I'll focus up on my mission, and then try, try and do as much running as I can there.
just fun, easy running, and then see.
after that, I'll, I'll get back and then start hammering again.
When you look back on this undefeated season of track and cross country, just racing against US athletes, like, what's the thing that you're gonna remember most?
What are you gonna take away from this year?
I mean, I'm gonna take away I've met, I've met so many awesome people throughout the, my, high school career.
So it's just fun to take away all those friendships and just, like, enjoy talking to all the new people that I've met.
So it's, it's really fun.
