Jerry Jones Wants More NFL Rivalry Games in a Scheduling Shakeup
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan that the NFL has considered a major change to its scheduling formula, including more rivalry games. He said it's an idea for the whole league, not just Dallas and Houston. He pointed to matchups like Cleveland and Pittsburgh and called "my town against your town" games a basic part of football. The current formula has been in place since 2002, with a tweak in 2021 for the 17th game, and it could be revisited if the schedule grows to 18 games. CBS Sports reported in April that an 18-game schedule is likely to arrive between 2028 and 2031.
