Jim Rutherford has one more year remaining on his contract with the Vancouver Canucks
Video Transcript
The Vancouver Canucks have wrapped up their twenty twenty-five, twenty-six seasons as media availabilities are now complete.
Now, the media availabilities featured both the players and Jim Rutherford.
And while the players gave some interesting quotes about the season that was, what the plan is for the off-season, all of the attention went to Jim Rutherford.
Now, before media started, the Canucks announced that they had fired Patrik Allvin, their general manager, and Rutherford's talked a little bit about Allvin, a little bit about what the plan is moving forward.
Based off of his comments, it sounds like they're going to be doing extensive search, not just in-house, but around the league to find their next GM.
We also heard from Rutherford a little bit more on the Quinn Hughes trade.
According to Allvin, Hughes wasn't going to sign, and they knew about this before the season started.
So there are questions about what the Canucks did leading up to the off-season last year with some of their re-signings to try to win Quinn and get him to re-sign, but that obviously didn't happen.
We also heard Rutherford talk a little bit about his own future.
It sounds like he's a little bit on the fence on how long he's gonna stay in Vancouver for.
So that is something interesting to watch.
Overall, plenty of interesting quotes from Rutherford and the Vancouver Canucks as they wrap up their twenty twenty-five, twenty twenty-six media availabilities.
