Joel Sherman: Volpe, Spencer Jones Lack Value to Land Yankees a Star

MLB insider Joel Sherman says neither Anthony Volpe nor Spencer Jones has enough trade value right now to bring the Yankees the premium talent fans want. After getting swept out of the playoffs, New York is targeting second base, third base, catcher and center field, through free agency or trades. Sherman says Volpe's value has dropped after another disappointing season, and his inconsistency plus an expected raise in arbitration are hurting his appeal. Jones has 40-homer potential and solid corner outfield defense, but his high strikeout rate has rival teams unwilling to offer premium talent.
