Jon Jones on current UFC status: 'Still on the roster'
Jon Jones stated he remains on the UFC roster and capable of competing, clarifying his status after recently seeking a release. The former heavyweight champion referenced a potential return to competition while thanking Ciryl Gane, who called him the greatest UFC fighter. Jones noted his UFC roster position in Instagram Stories, adding he can still make major fights. He returned in 2023 after a three-year layoff, defeated Gane for the vacant heavyweight title, and later defended it against Stipe Miocic. He never fought interim champion Tom Aspinall and retired in June of the following year. He pursued a UFC White House card spot; Dana White said there were no negotiations. He later praised Most Valuable Promotions' first event.
