Latest News on 3 Injured Cleveland Guardians

Stephen Vogt shared the latest updates on injured Cleveland Guardians players George Valera, Daniel Schneemann, and Hunter Gaddis.

Video Transcript

The Cleveland Guardians currently have three players who are dealing with some injuries, and here's the latest on each of them.

Starting off with George Valera, Stephen Vogt shared on Saturday that Valera was dealing with a mild left calf strain, which has kept him out since Monday with an injury.

And Vogt did say that he at lea-- it's gonna be at least a couple more games until he's able to get back into the lineup.

Now, Cleveland Skipper did note that Valera's been able to do some baseball activities, but certainly he is not healthy enough to be playing in live games right now.

Valera was having a very nice spring training with an OPS at eight thirty-three and twenty-four at bats, and really looking like he was gonna be in the Guardians lineup on opening day.

And hopefully this is not an injury that will affect any of that.

Next up is Daniel Schneeman, who was scheduled to start at shortstop for the Guardians on Friday, but unfortunately was a late scratch after rolling his ankle in some pre-game warm-ups.

Now, Vogt, a good news, did say that Schneeman probably is only gonna be out for or considered day-to-day at this point.

Team doctors told Vogt that if it was in the, during the regular season, Schneeman would probably be available and probably be playing through it.

But of course, it's spring training, you never wanna take too many chances with it, especially if someone else can slide into the position.

The interesting thing that, Stephen Vogt said was that the doctors told him it's not a forty-eight hour type injury, so hopefully that means that Schneeman's able to be back in the lineup on Sunday or at the very latest on Monday or Tuesday.

Last up is Hunter Gattis, who hasn't pitched in a game since February twenty-seventh after he was feeling some right forearm discomfort.

Now, the imaging or the initial imaging came back clean on him, but we still haven't seen Gattis pitch since then.

He's been throwing some bullpen sessions, as Vogt said, but there's still no timetable or there still really is no, schedule for when he's gonna be throwing in a game again.

See, C-Cleveland Skipper did say that he's, that Gattis has been feeling really good, but again, there still is not as much of a plan on when Gattis could be back on the mound in a spring training game.

Now, with it getting closer and closer to opening day, I think the big question is whether or not Gattis will be ready or not for the first series of the season.

No, it does not take relievers as long to build up as starters, but you don't wanna be throwing him out there if he's still feeling some of that discomfort or if he really isn't up to speed just yet.

So watching Gattis over the next couple of weeks and whether or not he's going to be ready is gonna be one of the big narratives because of how it could affect the Guardians' bullpen heading into the regular season.
