LSU's roster is older than the Spurs' starting five?!

A college team is about to be older than the Spurs starting five.
This season, the Spurs mostly had a starting five of Wemby, Devin Vassell, to Aaron Fox, Julian Champagnie, and Stephon Castle.
With that five, they have an average age of twenty-four.
They get a lot younger too if you swap Fox for Dylan Harper.
With that starting five, their average age goes from twenty-four to twenty-two, with Julian being the oldest at twenty-four.
Compare that to the projected players LSU will have on their roster next year, they make the Spurs look like babies.
Of the nine players they're projected to be interested in next season, five of them are older than Wemby, and all of them are older than Harper.
The oldest player LSU is targeting for next season is twenty-five-year-old Israeli native Yam Madar.
Originally drafted by the Celtics with the forty-seventh pick of the 2020 NBA draft, Madar has eligibility to play in the NCAA since he never signed an NBA contract.
From 2020 to 2025, Madar played in Turkey, Germany, and most recently in his homeland of Israel.
Speaking of former Celtics, the Tigers also got the official commitment of one-time Celtic RJ Luis Jr. At twenty-three years old, Luis spent his first three years of college playing for UMass and St. John's.
He went undrafted in 2025, then signed a two-way contract with the Jazz before he got traded to the Celtics.
Since he was waived before training camp, the NCAA deemed him eligible to return to college basketball.
If Coach Will Wade isn't scouring for former Celtics, he's going overseas to try and fill out his roster.
Some of the names that LSU are looking to add for next season is French big man Brice Dessert, who last played for Anadolu Efes in Turkey, Istanbul.
He's twenty-three years old, stands seven foot tall, and averaged eight points and three rebounds.
There's also twenty-three-year-old Brazilian Marzio Santos, who actually went undrafted in 2023 and played for the Hawks summer league team.
Since then, he's played in Germany and Israel.
If they miss out on half of the players we just mentioned, LSU's also been mentioned to go for older players in the transfer portal, like former Kentucky player Mo Dioubare, who's already twenty-two, former UTSA guard Austin Nunez, who's twenty-three, and recently got the commitment from former Kansas State forward Abdi Bashir Jr., who will turn twenty-three this year.
If LSU can get all of the players we just mentioned, they'll have a roster with an average age of twenty-three, which is a year older than the Spurs starting five with Harper.
The strategy of going for older, more experienced players has become a growing theme in the college basketball scene.
Forget about AAU.
