LuJames Groover secures his 1st hit in Major League Baseball

LuJames Groover recorded his first major league hit in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Nationals. He collected his first RBI in MLB on the same swing.

You know, just it's a dream.

Obviously, getting that first one out the way is probably the hardest one, so I'm just happy to get that.

Just trying to relax up there, you know?

Had to take good swings and good pitches.

I was also hoping to get my first RBI on that same swing.

You know, just taking one AB at a time.

Obviously, it's a hard game.

I was trying to win ABs, win pitches.

Obviously, I have a job to do.

Everyone has a job to do, so I'm just trying to do my best out there.

Did we see your family here tonight to celebrate that with you?

Yes.

Um- Does that make it more special?

Yes.

I mean, I, I'm from Georgia, so the whole other side of the country.

I got called up two days ago, two nights ago, you know.

Called my parents, it's 2:00 AM in the morning.

But they were able to be here yesterday as well on my debut, so you know, it makes it worthwhile.

Yeah, obviously, you know, they, they put just as much time into it as I have.

Their support, time, effort, money, whatever it may be, you know?

So yes, like I said, I think I said this yesterday, it's a long dream, but I share that with them as well, you know?

I just wanna make them proud out there and just do, do what I do.
