The Red Sox are looking forward to starting the unofficial second half of the season.
That gets underway on Friday afternoon with a double header against the Tampa Bay Rays.
But on Thursday afternoon, Major League Baseball was looking ahead to the 2027 season, announcing the Red Sox schedule for next year's campaign.
Here are a couple highlights from the '27 schedule.
First, for the second time in four years, the Red Sox will open up their regular season campaign in Seattle, taking on the Mariners.
That gets underway on Thursday, March 25th.
Red Sox will head home for their home opener just one year after opening up the season in Cincinnati.
They'll welcome the Reds to Boston to kick off the Fenway slate of games.
That's set for April 1st.
Sox will kick off Patriots Day weekend welcoming the Cleveland Guardians to Fenway Park for a four-game set that of course wraps around to Monday morning, where they'll take on the Guards in the annual Marathon Monday matinee.
Now getting into some of the key match-ups of the season, Red Sox will welcome back 2018 MVP and World Series champion Mookie Betts and the potentially three-time World Series champion Dodgers to Fenway for a three-game set on May 14th through the 16th.
This will mark the third time that Betts has returned to his former home since being dealt to LA in 2020.
Moving on to the Yankees, of course, it's become tradition in baseball's new balance schedule that the Red Sox and Yankees have to wait a while before their first clash, and that's no different in 2027, as the two won't meet until the Yankees come to Fenway Park for a four-game series beginning on June 4th.
They'll meet again just one week later, this time in the Bronx for a three-game series that starts on June 11th.
After playing seven of their 13 head to head games in a 10-day span, they'll have to wait almost two months before facing off again, this time in a three-game set back at Fenway from August 6th through the 8th, and they'll meet one final time in the regular season in the penultimate week of the year for a three-game set at Yankee Stadium, September 17th through the 19th.
The last sort of marquee match-up that the Red Sox will have in their 2027 schedule includes a trip to the friendly confines in the north side of Chicago.
They'll cap off a 10-game road trip at the end of July with a trip to Wrigley Field, taking on the Cubs in a three-game set from July 30th to August 1st.
The 2027 season, of course, remains shrouded in the dark cloud that is the impending lockout, with both the owners and Players Association seemingly willing to miss games to get what they want out of negotiations.
Of course, on the owners' side, they're looking for a salary cap, something several players have said that they are very staunchly against.
So, of course, everything in this schedule is tentative to change based on the outcome of those negotiations.
But for now, here are some things to look forward to in the 2027 season.
