Makar’s $163.2M Extension Serves As A Reminder Of Why The Canucks Should Sign Zeev Buium Long-Term Sooner Rather Than Later
Observing the trends with players like Cale Makar and Bowen Byram, and even Quinn Hughes, should encourage the Canucks to not just re-sign him, but lock Zeev Buium up long-term sooner rather than later if they can.

I think that him and MacKinnon and these guys, based on what transpired last year, are just gonna be back, have huge years.

But I think just them getting swept the way they did when I mean, I, you I must have told you guys every Tuesday that they were gonna win the Cup.
I think- Right they're gonna rebound.
Then I think Martone and Philly wins the Calder.

Yeah, I'm not too far away.
Like I, I, I do see a scenario where Auston Matthews gets back into that, goal-scoring touch that he had a few years ago, and he wins the Rocket as long as he's healthy.
In terms of the Norris, I, I'll say it, I'm gonna go with Schaefer.
I really think that, you know, rather than the sophomore slump, this guy just has a Macklin Celebrini type of year as a second-year player.
And, you know, he's got so much confidence and such a great head on his shoulders that I think we're gonna be talking about him for the Norris just how we're always talking about Makar and Hughes for a long- long time.
And for the Calder, I'm with you, Drew.
I- if it's not Gavin McKenna, then it's gonna be Porter Martone.
You know, th- this guy looked so comfortable in the playoffs last year for Philly.
I imagine a full season, he's just gonna just take the league by storm.
Yeah.
No, I'm with you guys on Martone, and I, I do like the Schaefer for Norris.
I was thinking about that as well.
Like, I think because of, you know, playing on, on Long Island, you know, he'll get a decent amount of attention.
And, you know, it feels like everybody loves Matthew Schaefer already.

And it's like if he plays well, it's like he's not hard to vote for.
Uh- Yeah, I would say- But Makar, he's always gonna be looming there, so it'll be interesting.
I would say too, for the Rocket, for some reason I got a little bit of a gut feeling that Leon Draisaitl is gonna have a massive goal-scoring year.
So we'll see if that comes true.
