Making the case for A'ja Wilson to win her fifth WNBA MVP award

Are you ready for A'ja Wilson to win her fifth WNBA MVP?
Because we're a quarter of the way through the 2026 season, and that's what it's looking like, at least to our team at USA Today's Studio 9.
Allow me to lay out the case for her.
A'ja, who already has more MVPs than any WNBA player ever at just 29 years old, is the league's leading scorer this season with 25.9 points per game.
Some might make the argument that Wilson needs to beat herself and the rest of the field every year to win, and Wilson has done that so far this year.
Just take her and the Aces win over the Storm this week, for example.
She had 34 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 blocks to become the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 6,000 points, beating Diana Taurasi.
She was 10 of 19 from the field with three three-pointers and 11 of 13 shooting from the free throw line.
And that wasn't even Wilson's wildest stat so far this year, as she also had the league's most efficient 45-point game ever earlier this season against the Connecticut Sun.
Aces coach Becky Hammon said that the team wants to put Wilson in position to play like a point guard.
They're doing that, and it's showcasing her versatility in a way that it seems like will be really difficult for somebody else to match.
I mean, genuinely, what other center do you know that's a real threat from deep and dishing out the ball for assists at such a high clip while also making a consistent case for Defensive Player of the Year?
That said, it's a long season, so you tell me, can anybody take the MVP title from A'ja Wilson?
