Man City Scrape Past Bournemouth in Season Opener
Manchester City scored a last-minute winner at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon to scrape past AFC Bournemouth. This may have alleviated some of the concerns at City, but beneath the surface, problems still remain.

The Premier League was back with a bang this weekend for the start of the 2026/27 season.
There were some huge shocks up and down the country, so let's not delay, guys.
A bit of a change for this season.
I'm gonna try and review every single match of every single weekend of the Premier League season.
Still keep it as five matches to look out for every weekend, but let's go through every single game in detail, and I'll give my thoughts as we go here on thefootballchronicle.com.
Now, full disclosure, guys, I'm recording this late on Sunday night, and we've had all the Sunday games as well, so we'll go through them too.
Manchester City against AFC Bournemouth, one of the earlier kick-offs.
I thought this was a potential banana skin for Enzo Maresca's Manchester City, and it nearly proved that way.
I mean, Marco Rose, he will be disappointed not to leave the Etihad Stadium with at least a point in this one, but it was Josko Gvardiol in the 92nd minute who won it for the Citizens.
But Bournemouth, I tell you what, Bournemouth, they easily could've got something out of this.
Now, don't get me wrong, Man City had chances.
Haaland, I mean, he really should've scored in the first half.
But Marcus Tavernier, he opened the scoring for the Cherries, who have never won at the City Ground, by the way.
I think 12 visits they've had.
They've had one draw in that time.
They still only have one draw, as it turns out, but they could've easily got a draw in this one.
But it was a late, late show from Man City.
I mean, Marc Guehi with the header from the corner, equalizing after 84 minutes, and then Josko Gvardiol with the winner in the 92nd minute.
The center back/defender/full back, wherever he's playing these days, coming up with the goods, but far from convincing from City.
Alarm bells ringing.
Well, maybe not ringing, but they're primed and ready to be rung any time now.
Bournemouth, I mean, they'll take solace in that.
They'll get a lot of good results this season.
Of course, they have Europa League football as well to contend with, so the Premier League might take, I'm not saying a backseat, but I wouldn't expect them to be in the top half necessarily this campaign.
But if they go deep into the Europa League, deep into the, the domestic cups, that is still a very good campaign overall for the Cherries, no doubts.
I don't know when you'll be seeing this.
Probably you'll be seeing this on Monday morning.
