Maple Leafs' William Nylander Apologies For Middle Finger Gesture, Hopes To Return From Groin Injury During Upcoming Road Trip
Nylander flipped the middle finger at a camera during the TSN broadcast of the Toronto Maple Leafs' 4-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.

Toronto has really, I think, been one of the top teams to struggle with that this season.
Gary, what is kind of your sense of where Toronto stands now, and kind of how the oddsmakers are viewing their chances?
Yeah, so they're at about a, I think it's a 41% chance of making the playoffs right now.
Okay.
I think that for Toronto, obviously there's a lot of injury problems.
There is some good news with Stolarz coming back.
Yes!
Yeah... soon.
The thing with the, the, the Maple Leafs for me is that they, they score way more than their chances indicate.
So they're one of the top offensive teams in the league.
But also they're one of the most, most ruthless.
So, they score at a higher percentage than most teams in the league.
Actually, I think they are at the highest.
Yeah.
But at, you know, contrastly, they are actually struggling really badly on the other end.
So, goals above expected against is really poor.
When Stolarz comes back, I think he'll be tasked to try to improve that.
And I think that that's- Yeah... What it could come down to.
Because obviously the Atlantic, we know, is a logjam.
There's a lot of teams competing for a few spots.
Right, right.
They need to get better in goal and defen defensively.
And they need to continue the, you know, the proficiency and the efficiency.
You know, going forward as well on attack, which at the moment they're doing a pretty exquisite job of.
Yeah.
Yeah, the Olympic break cannot come soon enough for those... Toronto Maple Leafs, because, You know.

You're missing Chris Tanev.
You're also missing now Oliver Ekman-Larsson, as well as Brandon Carlo.
So that, that break is gonna be a much needed chance for those bodies to kind of rest and get back in the lineup.
The other thing that can't come soon enough is probably the trade deadline, and, you know, Yeah...
If the Toronto Maple Leafs can grab a defenseman and maybe another top-six forward, I'm sure those odds will, of making the playoffs, are gonna increase.
