Matty Beniers Joins Shane Wright On New NHL Trade Board; Kraken Remain Determined To Find A Top-Six Scorer
A new report suggests the Seattle Kraken could be open to trading Matty Beniers and/or Shane Wright to land them an established top-six scorer.

At this point, or do you think that, you know, maybe they, they wait and end up being a little bit more patient with him?
I think they'll be patient in terms of getting the right fit for a deal.
I mean, this is, like you said, a top five pick who had a pretty good, first season.
I mean, last year was his rookie year.
He only played eight games the previous year.
I, I just, I- they're not gonna trade him for nothing.
They're not gonna trade him to get rid of him.
They're gonna They, you know, they ideally want to get a young scoring forward, somebody who can put the puck in the net, 'cause that team has had some trouble scoring.
But I think- I would think that the priorities of Jason Botterill when it comes to the Kraken, is regarding that plethora of unrestricted free agents they have.
And if they, you know, if they're in the playoff race, then they're gonna have to make a decision on whether they just keep these guys as own rentals and try to make a playoff run, or they shop the likes of Jaden Schwartz and Jamie Oleksiak, and others.
Wright can wait until the summer.
I mean, he's got another year left on his ELC, and all that does by waiting is, I, I think you put yourself in a position to field more offers.
He doesn't have any kind of no-trade protection, so I don't think this is something that happens by the deadline, but it could happen in the summer if they get the right fit on a deal.
Andre, do you agree with that?
Yeah, I mean, if I'm the Kraken, you know, whether I'm looking for a deal or not, I wanna hold on to Wright as, as long as I can, I guess.
he is still really young.
Obviously, you know, you guys mentioned just Stevenson and, and, and Beniers ahead of him on the center depth, but maybe he's finding a- another spot.
I mean, we've seen centers shift to, to the wing a bunch of times.
but I think, you know, yeah, if you wanna wait to find him a better spot in the lineup, or you look for a better, a better deal.
I mean, I don't I think we all know what the c- the center market is like.
There, there's gonna be a few, you know, contenders looking for Wright, and it'd be interesting to see if the Canadians are one of those teams.
Obviously, they have already a, a lot of youth and, and they could have taken him number one, then they'll have Slakovsky and Wright.
But anyway, there, there should be a lot of interest in a player like Wright, you know, whether he's having a down year or not.
He's still really young.
He's a, he's a centerman, you know.
He was projected to be a, a first overall pick.
but yeah, I think the Kraken should be patient here, whether, whether they whether the issue solves itself in the lineup or, or they can get a really good offer, you know, in the off-season, like you guys mentioned, or even in the future.
