Steve, does this Peterson trade signal the Mets are going into full sell mode?
No, I don't think it does sell.
I think we're all pretty convinced at this point that that's where it will eventually land.
But for me, this Peterson move was, was probably a long time coming.
I mean, there were all those rumblings in the off-season that they were very open to moving him, even back then.
And so I think given that and the fact that he's had the poor results, you know, it got to the point where, in a similar way to Kodai Senga, I found it very difficult to imagine them running him back out there every fifth day, and I know that they insisted that was the plan going into Friday.
But the, the fact that there was a team that was in desperate need of starting pitching, that they could make this deal, and he is a good fit for the Cubs with that infield defense, I think it was one of those, "Okay, this is a good opportunity right now for us to move on from someone who had clearly fallen out of favor and, and get something back for it."
So, that's really, I think, what, what prompted this particular move.
Again, I think this team is going to at least attempt to, to get back into the race over the next month, but, the odds are that eventually this will be a selloff.
I just don't think this is the trigger or a sign that they have now decided immediately we're gonna start to sell off pieces.
