The Mets ' offense started strong, scoring four runs in the opening frame thanks to a pair of two-run singles by A.J. Ewing and Brett Baty. Mark Vientos added a 445-foot solo home run in the fifth inning. M.J. Melendez was the hero of the night, driving in the Mets' final three runs. He hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh and then launched a walk-off two-run home run in the 10th to give the Mets a 9-7 victory and the series-opening win.
