We welcome you to the 2026 Mets Spring Breakout Game, as the New York Mets prospects take on the Tampa Bay Rays prospects.
Fans filing in, maybe getting a little bit of cover with some rain in the forecast.
But it should clear, and it is great to have it for you here on SNY.
Taking the ball, Jack Weninger, number eight ranked prospect in the system.
What you're looking to see tonight, the fastball velocity is up from 24 to 25.
You, you should be seeing average of 95, up to 97, maybe even 98 miles an hour tonight with some excitement, and a plus splitter.
He's got the gyro slider.
He's got a cutter that'll throw to lefties and the righties to keep them off that fastball.
But yeah, you're right, with two strikes usually you see the split.
And there's strike three, and he got him on the sweeper.
Oh, I love this pitch because, you know, he went with a slider before that, and this one was more of a sweeper with downward action.
He got He catches him looking.
The hitter thinks there's a fastball coming up next.
I wouldn't be surprised if he goes a little bit of a splitter.
No, he went fastball.
Struck out the side, went up to 97 on the fastball.
Over and looking, Gillan swinging.
And Jacob Milton cuts through that one.
he'll touch 98 to 100 at times.
And Ewing lines that pitch into center field for a base hit, and that's what he does so well, Joe.
Well, th- this is what we've been seeing, right?
it's the reason why he's jumped on your prospect list.
Wasn't even ranked last year.
You see the nice, really short swing.
It's what you want there in a leadoff guy.
Just make contact, put it in play.
That's what he does.
He steals bags too, so there'll be a stolen base threat.
Here is Elian Pena.
18 years old.
Last year was just at the DSL, the Dominican Summer League.
This is Mets fans first look at him.
Yeah, he's already physically filled out a decent amount at 18 years old, you can see just watching here.
One-two is hammered into right field, and that will do.
A base hit in front of Gillan, and Pena aboard with two out in the third.
How about that, Joe, huh?
Two strikes, young hitter, goes up there, pretty aggressive swing.
He turns on it to right field.
Nice, nice hard line drive.
Ends up with a knock.
A new pitcher for the Mets prospects, and it's Jonathan Santucci.
And Joe, we have been excited to see him take the mound.
Yeah, Jonathan Santucci, my number nine ranked prospect in the Mets system.
What you're gonna see here, two plus pitches.
Fastball will sit 95, 96.
Get up to 97 miles an hour.
He's got a real hard gyro slider that'll be in the upper 80s.
You might even see something around 90 miles an hour there.
And what he's focused on heavily this spring is a circle changeup.
It's the pitch that I think is the deciding factor if Jonathan Santucci is a starter at the next level, or a two pitch power reliever.
The speedy DeAndre Smith also in.
Left in a strike out of Isaac to begin the sixth.
Oh, that's short order right there against the lefty, Isaac, right?
He got behind there one and oh, then he pumped three straight pitches.

On the outside corner, and that's three consecutive strikeouts for Santucci, and five for Rosado.
I guess when you have a breaking ball like that, that you could just throw in any count, that's what's been most impressive here is he'll throw it ahead of the count, first pitch, behind in the count.
