Michigan vs. Penn State: Whittingham and Campbell Both Need This Win

Michigan's Kyle Whittingham and Penn State's Matt Campbell are both first-year coaches, and both need a signature win when the Wolverines and Nittany Lions meet with no championship on the line. Michigan has lost Big Ten games to Minnesota and Iowa in a row, which puts a bowl trip at risk. Bryce Underwood and the offense have gone backward, and only Michigan State has a worse scoring offense in the conference. Penn State started 3-0, then lost three straight conference games, including one where it gave up 413 rushing yards to Northwestern. Campbell has a big long-term contract to protect him. Whittingham faces more uncertainty: athletic director Ward Manuel steps down at the end of the year, and Whittingham's buyout is $24.75 million.
