Video Transcript
Let's get the news and notes from our NFL reporter assigned to us today, Mike Garafolo.
Mike G, good morning to you.
Joey Porter Jr. Was in the headlines yesterday, medically cleared yesterday off the PUP list.
How does this help Pittsburgh?
Medically cleared, but not contractually cleared yet.
Joey Porter Jr. And the Steelers still at a standoff, from that perspective, with Omar Khan, the general manager, saying that the team will not have negotiations with Porter during the season.
So we are right up against when this deal needs to be done if it's going to be done.
Otherwise, it'll be, next stop, free agency or potentially the franchise tag.
We'll see how that could play out.
You would think for a cornerback one who is the son of a franchise icon that this would've been done by now, but not even an offer from the Steelers.
They wanted to see him on the field first.
Off the PUP list, as we mentioned, but still gonna deal with that back injury, from what I understood.
That's still a day-to-day thing, so we'll keep an eye on both the medical and the contract for you as we get closer to the start of the season for the Steelers' top cornerback.
Elsewhere, Jeremiah Love, the Cardinals running back, is progressing in his return from a high ankle sprain according to head coach Mike LaFleur.
Trending towards a week one return?
Maybe.
I, I talked to a source yesterday who said, "I'll put it at about 50/50."
Nobody really knows right now.
They need to see how he progresses over the next week plus, so we'll continue to monitor that one, for the highly drafted running back.
Joe Milton, released by the Dallas Cowboys yesterday.
Now, our, our colleague, Todd Archer at ESPN, reported that the Cowboys had some trade talks with other teams involving Milton.
Remember, they traded for him, last year.
They released him at this point, or waived him I should say.
If he clears waivers, potentially could return to the practice squad, so we'll find out, how that goes today.
But for now, Sam Howell the backup quarterback for the Cowboys as the veteran has won that job.
And speaking of veterans, Jake Moody, the kicker, added to the Ravens practice squad.
Why are we talking about a kicker added to the practice squad?
Well, if we're talking kickers right now, probably not a good thing.
Tyler Lueb, remember his miss prevented the, Ravens from making the playoffs last year, resulted in John Harbaugh leaving, all that stuff off of this miss right here.
He struggled in the preseason.
Now, the Ravens still believe in Lueb, and they want him to be the kicker, but a little bit of heat here, a little bit of pressure.
See how he responds with a veteran now in the fold in Baltimore in Jake Moody, who has a little bit of history with Randy Brown, who coaches the kickers down there in Baltimore.
Tyler Brown, who is Randy's son, coached, Moody at Michigan, so that's the connection right there.
But again, Tyler Lueb, a little bit of pressure.
Let's see how he responds in Baltimore.
