NHL 27 Predicts Another Brutal Playoff Exit for the Avalanche
NHL 27 predicts a dominant 116-point season for the Avalanche, complete with individual awards and star performances, but another disappointing early exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Well, I'd like to reveal that I am Cale Makar's long-lost cousin.
And I, I, I should get at least 100 of that $163 million.
I mean, this is expected.
He's the best defenseman in the league, you know, or among the top two or three.
He's won a couple Norris Trophies, he's won a Stanley Cup.
You know, so this was expected that he was gonna get paid.
I'm a little surprised that he left just, 400,000, under the 20% max.
But it was deserved.
I mean, he is one of the best players in the league.
Now, I think the question is with Colorado is whether they're gonna be able to assemble a team around him and MacKinnon and Martin Necas who's making 11.5 million.
Looking at, PuckPedia this morning, they're $100 million.
You know, the cap is around $100 million, or their, their, their team salary is around $100 million, and the cap is supposed to go up, I think, to 113 next year.
So they have a little flexibility, but not as much as they, as they would.
And, you know, they're gonna have to bring in some other players.
So it's gonna be a tight squeeze, but he's one of the best players in the league, so you had to sign him to that deal.

The window is open if you're Colorado.
We- It's been open for years.
The window is open maybe for one more year, Ryan, a- and I think that's the fear if you're Colorado.
As good as Cale Makar is, and, you know, I'm, I'm with everyone.
You know, he is very deserving of $20 million.
The problem is we've got a cap system in the NHL.
So Mike mentioned MacKinnon and, Martin Necas.
You know, we joke in Toronto that they had the 40 million four at point with Tavares, Matthews, Nylander, and, Marner.
Well, now you got the 43 million three.
So three players are eating up a significant portion of your salary cap.
And, you know, it's just gonna get that much more difficult to win a Stanley Cup.
As good as Colorado was this past season, th- they fell short.
So you've got one more year where Cale Makar's making $9 million, and after that, with him getting an increase of basically an 11, $11.4 million, you know, you're gonna have to lose some key pieces, and it might be Lakinin, it might be Wedgewood.
It might be those two guys plus a Nazem Kadri.
You know, it just becomes that more difficult to kinda round out your roster
