The Minnesota Wild's acquisition of Quinn Hughes last month from the Vancouver Canucks has some observers wondering if General Manager Bill Guerin has another big move before the March 6th trade deadline.
That's one of the topics I'm looking at in today's NHL Rumor Roundup column.
Now, uh, according to, uh, The Athletic's Michael Russo and Joe Smith, they believe that the Wild are in win now mode, and they think that, Uh, the Wild are just a scoring winger or a first-line center away from being a true Stanley Cup contender.
Now, they think that Guerin is going to draw on his draft picks and prospects to address that need.
However, they feel that the Wild lack the kind of A-plus prospects that would fetch number one center.
However, they suggested, uh, using, uh, young goaltender Jesper Wallstedt as trade bait to address that need.
Now, Wallstedt is among this season's top rookies.
In fact, he leads all rookie goalies with four shutouts and a .914 save percentage.
Now, moving a future starter like Wallstedt would certainly be a bold move by Bill Guerin.
In fact, he seems to be untouchable.
But it's worth remembering that, Uh, Zeb William was also considered untouchable until the young defenseman return that was sent to the Vancouver Canucks that brought Quinn Hughes to MN.
