NHL Rumor Roundup: Wild Still Trying To Sign Quinn Hughes, Searching For A Center
Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin is preaching patience as he attempts to sign Quinn Hughes to an extension. Meanwhile, his search for a first-line center continues.

Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin reportedly met last week in Michigan with defenseman Quinn Hughes and his representatives to discuss a contract extension.
However, there is currently no sign that such a deal is, going to be, signed anytime soon, and that's the topic of today's NHL Rumor Roundup column.
Guerin indicated that he's been, speaking with the Hughes camp all along during this offseason.
And, while a new deal does not appear to be in place yet, he stressed patience, saying that it takes time, to get a contract like this for a superstar such as Hughes signed, and compared it to, the effort that he put in last year when he, was negotiating a new deal with superstar winger Kirill Kaprizov.
Now, it's believed that the Wild would prefer to sign Hughes to a deal for as long as possible, but he could prefer a more shorter-term contract of perhaps three years, which would bring him up to the, the s-- his contract expiring at the same time as brother Jack Hughes' contract will be expiring with the New Jersey Devils.
And, it's well known that the Hughes brothers would at one point like to be able to, play together on the same NHL team.
And that has, some fans wondering about the status of, Hughes's, negotiations with the Wild.
In fact, New Jersey Devils fans will probably be following Quinn's, negotiations with the Wild very closely, as some of them believe that the longer he goes without a new contract in Minnesota, the more that it could benefit the Devils.
