Notre Dame Depth Chart Overview: Tight End
Filling big shoes at tight end, Notre Dame eyes a healthy Flanagan and Washington's development to power their offense and overcome key departures.

Yeah, there, there's, there's two ways to look at that, Trev.
One is there's a lot of talented guys ready to take control, i-i- and that's one way to look at.
The other one is nobody has emerged as the next guy.
I mean, so, so, you know, we, we can kind of look at this in a lot of different ways, and, and the reality is, is both things are true.
You know, both things are absolutely true when it comes to the tight end.
It is a, a talented room, there's no question about it.
Cooper Flanagan was a four-star recruit, and I'm not talking about nat- m- my, my board.
Four-star top 250 guy, I believe.
James Flanagan was a four-star top 100 guy for me.
J- Jack Larson was a four-star top 250 guy for me.
And then you've got the incoming freshman class, where I believe I had Preston Fryzel in the top 150, I think, and then of course, I had Ian Primer as a five-star guy.
And then of course, we saw with, you know, Ty Washington.
So there's a lot of things to look at and, and say, "Well, you know, like, this is good," but there's a reason that we don't know who the next guy is going to be.
You know, the, the at the veteran level, you've got some guys that have solid talent, but maybe they don't have difference-maker talent.
There's one veteran that we think maybe has some big-time talent, but he's, he was injured all of last year, played one whole game, came back from an injury, played one game, had a setback, and missed the rest of the year.
So there's a lot of question marks, and so I don't think it's as easy to just say, "Oh, it's Notre Dame, it's tight ends, it's plug and play."
Maybe that's the case, and I think Eli Raridon is gonna continue Notre Dame's now 20-plus year stretch of years where the starting tight end, once his eligibility was out, was drafted.
I fully expect Eli Raridon to continue that, you know, that, that run.
Will that continue after this?
I, I don't know the answer to that question, but what I'll say is there's plenty of NFL potential in the room.
I would just argue the concern is the most high level i- NFL talent is freshmen and sophomores.
