Ended up with Gerrard, reclassified, then the next three offers that they extended at quarterback were Champ Mons, Camden Lapati, Davin Davidson.
Davidson committed to Florida, came off the board first.
Lapati ended up flipping to Michigan, but Champ Mons became the guy for the Fighting Irish.
Now, optically, some people will say, "Why didn't you go after Trey Taylor?
Ohio State wants him.
He was dominant during the Elite 11."
A lot of people would say, "Why did you not push for Israel Abrams?
Why did you not offer him?
Look what he did.
Look at the tools he has."
But I'm sitting here and saying, you took the 2027 class, which had one spot open, and you turned it into two incredibly talented signal callers.
The minute that Teddy Gerrard reclassified to 2026, you were able to go out and get Champ Mons, who I think is one of the most physically talented quarterbacks in the 2027 class.
And if not for the injury last year, I think he would be ranked as such.
Even from reclassifying from 2028 to 2027, I think that Champ is that talented
